The recording is stalling. Try checking that the USB cable is connected tightly at both ends then restart Audacity.
You may also need to shut down and restart the computer. Do that using "Shut Down" from the Win + X menu which does a proper Shut Down.

Re: v 2.1.0
OS 10.10.3 I've never had a problem with this before this version and it seems rather stupid to ahve to ask this, but... Although i can see the file I want loading after that I cannot see a Track CP/Audiotrack/Waveform window and I can't seem to find anything that would control that function. Sorry...

Re: Can't launch Audacity (freezes at startup)
I'm using a desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate. My Audacity version is 2.1.0. I installed using the .exe. I've had Audacity for a year and a half now, and I haven't had any problems since I first got it was still figuring out how to export mp3's. I don't know when it started. I remember it being fi...

Re: problems importing quicktime audio
I had the old version 2.0.5 and now I have just upgraded to 2.1.0 With the old version I could drag my quicktime file into it just fine... now when I drag the exact same quicktime file into the new version (2.1.0) I get a pop up box saying "Audacity did not recognize the type of file 'file nam...

Re: Cannot open any file in Audacity
I have audacity 2.1.0 Running OSX Yosemite 10.10.3 Had the same problem, until I installed the FFmpeg according to your most recent response. I used the dmg installer. Now I see that importing the file is taking much longer than it ever has before. My file is an mp4 that is 90 minutes long. The cou...

Re: Start Up Issues
Open /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor.app. In the window that opens, click on Audacity then press the Force Quit button. Then open Finder, use Go > Go to Folder and type: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/ Then trash the "audacity.cfg" settings file in that folder. Gale

Re: Doubled up add-ons.
But as a QA tester I have really to keep old builds (and old versions) so I can go back and check when bugs/behaviors crept in :geek: If you have the bandwidth you can download them again, I guess. I'm guessing most users who would end up with multiple copies of the same plugin in the Effect Menu w...

We're talking about saving files. Filenames may not contain the forbidden characters, even if saved with Excel or Word. A document may contain forbidden characters.rj7500 wrote:Windows allows these characters with other programs like Word or Excel, why not Audacity?

Re: Doubled up add-ons.
I get this whenever I install each nightly alpha - each one goes into a fresh directory in Program Files (x86) It's being regarded as a feature rather than a bug though, as you know. If you don't want to keep old builds you could just extract into the same folder each time, replacing the previous c...

Re: installation of v.2.1.0 changes icon props for excell 20
For what it's worth I've installed 64-bit Windows 7 and 8 numerous times and never seen the issue, though I do only have Office 2003. If you are experiencing the kind of bugs mentioned in the links then I agree setting a custom icon for XLS or whatever file types are affected would be a good solutio...
