Re: Static/distortion on recording in Yosemite
OK, I recorded for an hour. When I saved the file, it did not crash, but the popping sound started at about 39 minutes and continued until the end of the recording. The attached file is at around the one-hour mark. Thanks. Please try setting Audio to buffer to zero, then upwards in 10 ms increments...

Re: COMPRESSION
Hang on. The very page you point to makes clear that the default (tied to the RMS choice) is downwards compression. Of course make-up to 0 dB is on by default. Yes, makeup gain is on by default, so the net effect is that it compresses "upward". As I wrote in an earlier post, upward compre...

Re: Audacity gets slow on startup ALSA driver
What version of Linux and Audacity, and how was Audacity obtained? See the pink panel at the top of the page. If you are still on Ubuntu 12.04, try updating to 14.04 or 14.10. I would avoid 15.04 because in that version, Ubuntu have not built Audacity with the wxWidgets 2.8.12 version we request, an...

Re: Recording went from normal to shuddering, skipping, over
Is there any way to salvage the 2 hours of recording that are affected?! That would be no. Once the system does that, it starts making trash. I think there's a fix for that in one of the future builds for Mac. I'm very fuzzy on the process. We need to wait for a senior elf. The current 2.1.0 releas...
Re: v 2.1.0
I didn't know that the FFmgeg was needed to make those files visible in the program so I'll take care of that. Which begs the question why do i need to install taht every time the program goes through an update? Generally you don't need to, but for 2.1.0, importing files using the "QuickTime i...

Re: COMPRESSION
The compressor in audacity enlargens amplitude. Yes. With the default settings it makes quiet sounds louder. Thus it is reducing the "dynamic range" by reducing the difference between quiet sounds and loud sounds.[...] The Compressor in Audacity is a bit unusual in that it "compresse...

Re: 320kbps is 96kbps?
The lame I used is Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows,so I think it could be better. You mean that it could be a later version? Yes, but 3.99.3 does not have any kind of bug like you describe. Are you sure the bug is not in Adobe? You can verify the exported file in "MediaInfo" from http://mediainf...

Re: Will not record from Yamaha mixer
I suggest you set the mixer as default Windows recording device then use Windows Sound Recorder to make a test recording.
Then assuming you have the same problem you can prove to the Yamaha representative that the problem is nothing to do with the recording software.
