Re: Strange flutter sounds happen towards end of recording
I'm not a techie or a professional on Audacity, but this http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=85395&p=276005#p275974 sounds like what happened to me when I was digitizing cassettes. After checking everything else out. I clicked Audacity>Preference>Recording and checked Softwar...

Re: Digitizing 4 channel audiobook
Let's keep your problem in this topic - it isn't entirely the same issue as the linked one from the sound of it. I am using a Nakimichi CR 3-A with a stereo headphone adaptor and cable through the headphone jack to a line-in on my computer. Some of my audiobooks that I am digitizing have two channel...

Re: Strange flutter sounds happen towards end of recording
When I record something for an extended period of time over 15 min, there is a strange fluttery sound that happens. It is only when there is talking so I cannot isolate it. I tried leaving the laptop unplugged to remove the possibly of the power cord. I also make sure all other programs are closed....

Re: Set of basic effects
We could include literally hundreds of effects, all enabled by default and "let the user decide", but in my opinion that is a ridiculous idea. We can agree about that, but we don't ship hundreds of effects. For users who want extra Nyquist plugins we have http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki...

Re: Set of basic effects
and we should provide the complete shipped effects as a starting point for the minority who need to make such a decision. but as I wrote in the first post: "This does NOT mean that other effects are not available, but that other effects are not listed by default. Additional effects could be in...

Re: Use exported MP3 to go back and recreate Aud file?
If you can overwrite another project in 2.1.0 please give us exact steps to how to reproduce the problem. I have v.2.0.5. You don't refer to that version, so I assume it falls into the "can't overwrite" bucket. But in case you are interested, to overwrite, all I did was "Save Project...

Re: 320kbps is 96kbps?
I record music from Cd's that I recorded digital on MD There is no need to lose quality by recording from a CD. You can rip the CD's to the end format you require. If you want the audio for use in an Audacity project, rip to WAV which is lossless. If you use CD-ex (see the link), you can even rip p...

Re: Set of basic effects
Well for me now personally Studio Fade Out is an essential part of the toolkit. And I find Truncate Silence a very useful tool - excellent for stitching brief gaps in transmission of a web-feed when the feed drops for brief periods Exactly my point - only the user can make these decisions, and we s...

Re: Set of basic effects
And yes, hiding Vocal Removal (Robert's update or the current effect) is unacceptable, as is hiding High Pass and Low Pass. More advanced users can already group effects or hide classes of effects in Effects Preferences. There is no need to make things harder for less able users by hiding effects th...

Re: Set of basic effects
This was asked on one of the mailing lists recently, but I think worth reproducing here so that those that do not subscribe to the mailing lists may contribute. What effects are essential for inclusion in Audacity by default? This does NOT mean that other effects are not available, but that other e...
