Re: Ringing or feedback sound when I click on record
The current Audacity version is 2.1.0 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . I would try removing and reconnecting the USB cable, making sure that it's tight at both ends. If you have another USB cable, try that instead. It's unlikely to help, but if you can manage without hearing the tape ...

Re: Suddenly no audio while playing an AUP/MP3 file
The log contains errors from Sequence.cpp about not being able to read samples. Do those errors occur only while you are playing the project? That is when you first open the project but don't play it, the errors such as "22:27:19: Warning: Expected to read 137312 samples, got 0 samples" ar...

Re: How to improve audacity performance when adding effects
If you mean source audio files like WAV, it doesn't really matter where those files are, except very marginally if you import WAV files into Audacity reading directly from the original . Otherwise, all data from audio files is copied into the project. Thus what matters is where the Audacity tempora...

Re: Timeless (blank) vs Empty (lined) Track Parts?
@kentone, I recorded your "vote" for a preference to preserve track start time after zero when exporting. Although in practice I think a checkbox in the export dialogues might be more convenient. There is a way to export the leading silence automatically which may or may not be convenient....

Re: Suddenly no audio while playing an AUP/MP3 file
So the deed is done and there's no way I can recover the missing data? Did this project contain imported files or is it only a recording? Is it a project with multiple tracks? Open the AUP file and do View > Fit Vertically to see all the tracks. If any tracks are muted, unmute them. If that does no...

Re: Suddenly no audio while playing an AUP/MP3 file
Audacity has a mode which used to be default where it wouldn't make "personal copies" of the music you used in the show. It used to just go out and open up the music files when they were needed and then close them up when it was done. It was very efficient to do it that way and the shows ...

Re: How do I normalize tracks?
Note that Gain and Pan are real-time, not affecting the audio data. If you want to see the change in the waveform, Tracks > Mix and Render... .
Also see the Normalize effect itself, which does affect the audio data. Normalize - Audacity Manual.

Re: Recording stops suddenly
I uninstalled, then installed Audacity. I did not add the add-ons. It still stopped. I even tried the settings of project rate of 32000 Hz and Snap to Nearest. I had previously recorded over 10 hours Friday and Saturday and the problem started Sunday. Also, what exactly are you trying to record, us...

Re: Recording stops suddenly
May not be related but have had similar problems from moving or renaming tracks but not reloading them into Audacity. Seems to play for short time and then go mute (if other tracks are still playing) or if only track, then stops. This happened on earlier versions of the program but I see in the new...
