If it's a USB mixer and you are on Vista or later, make sure Windows has the mixer set to record in stereo: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... #rinstereo.

In other words, you will have to change host to Windows WASAPI (loopback) and choose the USB Audio CODEC (loopback) or similar as the Audacity recording device. See the link Koz gave.

If you have the M-Audio USB Audio CODEC selected as the Audacity recording device as you say but it doesn't record, try Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in the Audacity Menu Bar at the top.

Yes, but that label would not say "Realtek" for a USB Audio Device. For all we know, the user could be using "Listen to this device" and recording Realtek stereo mix.

If you are recording from a USB device you need to choose the USB Audio CODEC for that device as the Audacity recording device. I just got Audacity, and when ever I try to import music, it doesn't show up on the panel. Can anyone help me?
