Re: Audacity 2.1.1 and OS X 10.10.4

I just updated to Audacity version 2.1.1 on two computers running OS X 10.10.4, and it works on one, but on the other, it won't even open. What Audacity version did you update from? I don't think it opens at all; when I click on it, the dock icon jumps up and down a few times (if I'm lucky) and the...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 crashes on OSX 10.8.5

1) I deleted the settings directory, which had been generated by v2.0.6. 2) Started up v2.1.1, and entered the locations for the Lame and ffmgep libraries manually. 3) Closed 2.2.1 4) Started the old 2.0.6, which complained about missing libraries, now. 5) Entered, again, the right places where Lam...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 crashes on OSX 10.8.5

Audacity would still be writing its configuration files there, so that could mean that for some reason it could not do so before. I'd rather suspect that v2.0.6 had written something that the new version did not like... But it was still liked when you were admin, presumably? There is always a chanc...

Have you done Verify Disk and Repair Permissions yet? It does not matter what GetInfo says if your permissions are messed up.

Re: need advice re96/32float recording

UPdate- I have a sample for you v2.1.1 MME 44100 32bit had to change the input in the software a couple more times and finally got signal but as you will hear yikes?! Look to see if there is a buffer setting in Juli. If so, increase it. If that does not help, try 200 or 300 ms in Audacity's Audio t...

Re: need advice re96/32float recording

1] because I wrote that I had just gone to the website to download what was offered (v2.0.2) and then you asked to confirm 2.1.1 so I went back and downloaded that to be able correctly answer your question. I still don't know why the first time 2.1x wasn't offered but so be it. Please only download...

Re: need advice re96/32float recording

What I was asking and ask again is "what should I try next since the sample rate in default worked?" I have answered that twice already, in great detail the second time. Please read it. You will have to experiment with changing the host (and crucially, making the correct choices dependent...

Re: Win. XP will not record properly after upgrading to 2.0.

Are you running an anti-virus application with real-time monitoring? It would be very desirable to do that on XP but it does slow the machine up. You should be running real-time protection on XP unless you disconnect the internet. If you are running real-time anti-virus, you could see if you can tel...

Re: Win. XP will not record properly after upgrading to 2.0.

am I correct in thinking Linux is free? only I have been online looking and some are charging for it? The distributions one would recommend to someone new to Linux such as those based on Ubuntu are free. Most Linux distributions are free. A few Linux distributions are commercial or they charge if y...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 crashes on OSX 10.8.5 (solved)

Have you tried Go > Utilities > Disk Utility > then "Verify Disk" and "Repair Permissions"? No I didn't, but I have tried something else in the meantime: I've removed (actually: renamed) the directory where Audacity stores its settings: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity. Re...
