Re: The problem with effect "Normalize".
would look more consistent if the permitted accuracy was the same in both effects, It's a different effect. I think we would be giving ourselves an unnecessary burden if we decided that different effects must have the same number of decimal places. If we decided that we 'must' be consistent between...

Re: popping and cracking
I thought I was going to have to purchase a new interface...turns out I did not in fact, have my Scarlett as input default on my Mac!! I changed it, and just recorded 5 auditions without one single crack or pop! Audacity can choose its recording device independently of the system default, so settin...

Re: Decimal places in effect settings
I am not inclined to increase the number of decimal places for the Normalize effect as, after three pages of discussion, no-one has come up with a single use case to justify doing so I thought Robert did so (fractional dB can be heard in multiple tracks)? And as I said, different decimal places in ...

Re: application error 0xc000001 Windows XP SP3
Please see in http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.1.1 (in the yellow box at the top for "Windows") "Audacity 2.1.1 requires the CPU to support the SSE2 instruction set". I think this is probably the problem. If so, please use Audacity 2.0.6 as indicated there. if yo...

Re: Outdated Instructions
Please fix this (starting line 231): For ASIO support, get the ASIO SDK from Steinberg (http://www.steinberg.net/en/company/developers.html), install at C:\ASIOSDK, then define an environment variable called ASIOSDK_DIR. The value should be the full path to the base directory of the ASIO SDK, e.g.,...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 and OS X 10.10.4
Renaming the .cfg file and keeping it in the same folder seems not to work but moving it to another folder as suggested seems to do the trick. The move was only so that we could request the problematic audacity.cfg file. As this seems to be a general problem with the current OS, it looks like the i...

Please bear in mind the above is our work in progress Manual for the next version of Audacity, so it won't correspond to released versions of Audacity.eastern12 wrote:http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Device_Toolbar
This is the best link to use http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/de ... olbar.html.

Re: Opening AAC stream ripped from DAB+ radio
Running the file through FFmpeg at the command-line, the problem appears to be that the DAB stream uses 960 samples per frame rather than the more common 1024. 960 is a legitimate frame size per AAC specification. FFmpeg know about this but don't want to fix it . It seems that you need the libfaad2 ...

Re: Opening AAC stream ripped from DAB+ radio
Can you provide a short example of one of these files that won't import into Audacity?

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 crashes on OSX 10.8.5
There is always a chance of corruption of some sort in audacity.cfg, where deleting that file will fix the problem. But such a problem rarely varies according to a user's permissions at the time. The Audacity settings in my admin account were totally different from those in the user account. OK - u...
