Re: Update from 2.1.0 to 2.1.1: Some keyboard shortcuts lost

Starting from a clean audacity.cfg in 2.1.0 on Windows 7 x64, I cannot reproduce that. I assume you mean Generate > Silence.

Does your audacity.cfg still show

Code: Select all

[NewKeys]
Silence...=F8
Normalize...=F9

Re: Save Project Comes up Automatically

I've noted your "vote" for an option in Timer Record not to prompt. However only a few people have felt strongly enough to complain so far.

Re: Need an audio format converter? Try Audacity!

Having stumbled over a few audio files with strange file types, ".3gp" and ".amr", I learned - more or less by chance - that Audacity can read them. Even without the ffmpeg library installed. Really? Look in Help > Show Log... . What importer took them? I guess it might be Quick...

Re: 2.1.1 build error on Ubuntu

You may have to wait until audacity-devel comes back on line and ask there.

Does the 2.1.1 source build if you just build it normally without PKGBUILD?

Can you post your PKGBUILD script?

Re: cut vs delete? Not defined in index or glossary

Probably one removes the selected region permanently from the file, and the other creates a copy of the selectd region. I think my intuitive response is the opposite of the way it works, I'm getting a little bit when I want to remove that bit. Cut removes the selection and adds it to the Audacity c...

Re: Adjusting sound level to equalize 2 parts? Mixer Board?

New weirdness. I have saved a file where my first two play sequentially, at a good volume level. Now I am pasting a 3rd file onto the end of that. Except that every time I do it, it does not paste the 3rd file. It copies the 2nd file to the tail end -- at the original really loud volume level. WTF ...

Re: Adjusting sound level to equalize 2 parts? Mixer Board?

OK I got it now. I didn't know the NORMALIZE would work on just a selection. And then I had to notice that the normalization level you select is an absolute number, not a REDUCTION from the current db level. If you want a reduction control, use "Amplification (dB)" in Amplify. Have you tr...

Re: Suppress Metadata?

It's called "metadata".

You can press the "Clear" button in Metadata Editor rather than delete each field. But if the imported files have metadata you can't remove that metadata before export without opening Metadata Editor to clear it.

Re: The problem with effect "Normalize".

I agree that "Normalize" does not need decimal-place accuracy in dB settings. Anyone needing that sort of accuracy should be using a different effect. The whole point is that you *cannot* use Amplify to bring multiple tracks to the same level, unless you are going to process the tracks on...
