Re: Audacity doesn't recognize microphone

And by the way, if Help > About Audacity... really says "2.1" then it's a bogus version. Get the latest Audacity 2.1.1 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows.

Re: Audacity doesn't recognize microphone

I have Windows Home Premium x64 SP1. I've been recording on my Audacity 2.1 for a while and it suddenly can't recognize the connected microphone. It has happened a few times before, but somehow it started working after a while. I've been to the Control Panel and it normally works there but when I t...

Re: Low frequency roll-off for speech

+1 to both ideas, but "LF" is jargon - to a novice it could look to be to do with "Linear Frequency" or "Length of Filter" that they can see in the EQ dialogue. Is "Rolloff" more gradual at the transition so that is more correct for this than "Cut"? ...

You might consider a RAM test - the error you are seeing can sometimes be caused by memory errors. Cyrano probably knows alternative methods though some say the Apple memory test is inadequate.

Re: New Limiter in 2.1.1

but the latest version of Audacity changed the way it finds plug-ins and it's way flaky :( . It seems you have to go into "manage", find it in the "new" category, and "enable" it. I did that a couple times and it finally appeared in the pulldown list :? Not having to r...

Re: i need help recording

We cannot see what you are doing so we can only help you in detail if you tell us exactly what you are trying to record and what equipment you are using to do that. Generally in Audacity you must use Device Toolbar to select the recording device you want to record from. Also see Why do I get only a ...

Re: Share Information about Audacity software adjust audio

The problem turned out to be the “microphone-in” and “line-in” use the same jack. On Windows XP it did not matter what you plugged in, it would auto detect between microphone and line in but apparently it does not in Windows 7.[...] With occasional inspirations for searching Google. That is were I ...

Re: Problem about Audacity to record at 24bit in window.

I think these two posts http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 78#p265778 are saying that WASAPI host records true 24-bit from 24-bit hardware.

Use the latest Audacity 2.1.1 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows.

Let us know about your own tests.
