Re: Zoom view snap-back feature.
Something I would find extremely useful for speeding up the editing process (and thus, hopefully others would) is the ability to snap back to the view setting we had after we "fit selection" or "fit project" or even, if possible, before we start zooming in. +1 to that How exactl...

Re: Zoom view snap-back feature.
Simply having a sensible default and going back to the same default when you "unzoom" (Zoom normal) would be a good start. Audacity has Zoom Normal (CTRL + 2 or COMMAND + 2 on Mac). But if your cursor was near the end of a long track, even if zoomed in no further than Zoom Normal, then yo...

Re: Spontaneous Changes in Audacity Set Up
The problem looks like it is due to your computer sound card. Onboard sound cards frequently give very poor recording quality. The "extra line" in the middle is due to "DC offset" (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/dc_offset.html) which is also a common problem with on-b...

Re: Spontaneous Changes in Audacity Set Up
I did attach my visual of the Audacity screenshot according to the instruction link you just sent. It gave me a message of being successful, but see now that it is in a format the upload doesn't allow: odt. You need to save an image format as you now have done (thanks), not put an image inside a wo...

Re: Internal PortAudio Error
Thank you for the attachments. Make sure you have been into Windows Sound and enabled all recording and playback devices. If all the devices are enabled and working in other applications, you'll have to use some other driver for the sound devices to use them in Audacity. Have you been to http://supp...

Re: Как сделать в Edit Metadata дополнительное поле "Исп. ал
I don't speak Russian.
Either use only the first seven tag fields in "Edit Metadata", or view the tags exported by Audacity in a utility that can read TXXX tags (like that in Foobar2000 or dBPowerAmp).

Re: How to NOT create a new track when overdubbing?
If you are prepared to delete all the recording following the mistake, then you can SHIFT-click on the Record button to record at the end of the selected tracks. Some of us think destructive punch in would be acceptable as a start. I am one of those who thinks that, but it still needs a developer to...

Re: Spontaneous Changes in Audacity Set Up
You did not attach anything. Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 . We can't help without knowing the make and model number of your microphone, and exactly how you are connecting it to your computer. However you could have a look at ht...

Re: Low Recording volume
When I try to record using the microphone input on my Windows 7 laptop the monitor sound is very clear and the record level monitor seems to be correct but the recorded volume is very low, being almost a flat line. I've tried various settings in Audacity and on the Windows sound settings but I get ...
