Re: mixed up sectors after crash recovery
No, I didn't retrieve the data immediately after the audacity crash (the PC didn't crash....just audacity). I copied all the data onto a separate folder, in order to preserve it...so at least my data files are safe. It's perfectly reasonable to make that backup - but in 99% of cases all you need to...

Re: mixed up sectors after crash recovery
I will NOT use audacity on Windows 7 to record a large project anymore.....very frustrating, because it is a great piece of software, but it crashes too often on my OS. Now you are using 2.1.1, if it crashes it "should" generate a debug report you can attach for us. We can then see if we ...

Re: can i record to my windows media player
Is it a physical radio? If so you can record if you have a stereo line-in on your computer and you buy the correct cable to connect from headphones out of the radio. Most computers don't have a proper stereo line-in these days. We have a set of tutorials you can work through http://manual.audacityte...

Re: how to build lame_enc.dll for 3.97 beta ?
Thanks Gale! You are a savior! I just have one more question, if I build my lame in Visual Studios, am I using the files from the beta version. I want to experiment with that meaning that I am wondering whether the LAME that I am building in Visual Studio is somehow connected to the file beta file ...

Re: Crashing on Yosemite
I've been running El Capitan Public Beta on the side to see how it does. When running on El Cap Audacity does not rapidly flash the screen on saving a new recording like Yosemite does. Thanks, Cliff. I made some comments here in the bug about the flickering and open/save crashes: http://bugzilla.au...

Re: Help needed: Audacity does not record everything
Another thing you can try is experimenting with "Audio to buffer" in Audacity's "Recording" Preferences. The default is 100 milliseconds. The usual problem the setting causes is clicking in recordings unless the buffer is set to only a few milliseconds. Normally you might try inc...

Re: Removing audio without moving
is it possible to remove the start of an audio track, not having the rest of the track moved backwards in time? On the other hand if you want to remove audio in the middle of a track without moving the following audio back, you can Edit > Remove Special > Split Cut or Split Delete, then Audacity wi...

Re: Menu items and ellpises
I use Audacity with German translation. There are some menu items that have "......" (6 dots) at the end. (See for example the menu item for generating silence.) A reason that plugin effects can acquire six dots for ellipsis (even in English language) is if you change between Audacity 2.1...

Re: Channel Volumes
What I discovered (and most/many probably already know this), is that the stereo tracks can be separated. Once separated they can be amplified or normalized independently, and then rejoiced into a stereo track. Once separated, the channels can be amplified separately but as WC said - if you use Nor...
