Re: Poor Audio being recorded
Hi Gale well i have never changed the drivers, the laptop is as it was and is about a year old And how long was it on the shelf before you bought it? Even if it came with manufacturer's drivers matched to your motherboard, those drivers could be out-of-date. If you have any kind of audio problems b...

Re: opening audio
thanks Gale - I'll try import > raw. not sure if I can do this in a chain. will check it out, A Chain applied to files can only use standard import. If you set a rule for WAV in Extended Import Preferences (uncheck "Attempt to use...") you can force FFmpeg if installed to import the WAV f...

Re: Numeric value in amplify effect
I am also having this problem on both my desktop and my laptop, in particular, the inability to enter numbers in most effects using my US keyboard's numeric keypad. Using what Keyboard layout ? Have you customised the layout in some way? I have a UK keyboard so I can only simulate other keyboards b...

Re: Audacity will export but there's no sound.
The file will play perfectly in Audacity but once I export it (I've tried WAV, MP3, AIFF...) it won't play on iTunes or any other media player. I've tried importing the exported files back into Audacity and they play fine. Any clue as to what the issue might be? Is the issue that the time counter m...

Re: Big Problem
I don't really know how to explain. I recorded as I usually do the same basic settings as when you download Audacity. But the second recording did fine, the first one is all silence for some reason. And I recorded them right after the other without changing anything. Please start by giving us the i...

Re: InternalPortAudio error since windows 10 update
Thanks for the information. I was wondering if it was actually PortAudio but I'm more thinking it's something to do with how the build is produced -- the PortAudio version itself has remained V19 but the build date is that of the release. All I can see in the release notes for 2.0.4 that stands out ...

Re: Windows Media Player cannot open the wav file
My Audacity was set to 32 bit and I changed it to 16 bit in quality preference settings That only sets the bit depth for audio you add to Audacity in the first place. Look in the Export Audio dialogue when you export. That is where you choose the export format and its options, irrespective of your ...

Re: Room Noise Question
Audacity can choose the input to record from which needs to be set in Device Toolbar or Devices Preferences. To record computer playback you have to choose stereo mix if your device supplies that, or change to Windows WASAPI host then choose the "loopback" recording device. Please see: htt...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti
So, how about some text in Waveforms and Spectrograms Preferences "Values only apply to tracks set in View Settings to "Use Preferences"? I think that we should make it clearer that the Spectrogram (global) Preferences are "default" values and not necessarily the values tha...
