Re: Shaded waveform view (when zoomed out)
Consider these two waveforms. They both have a frequency of 5512.5 Hz. http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=13615 The only difference is that the phase of the sine wave in the lower track is offset by 22.5 degrees with respect to the first track. When zoomed in on a normal Waveform vi...

Re: windows 10 need help pretty please.
I wasn't asking for wavepad technical support and as far I know you can convert all sound files through import- raw and then extracting the sound file as a .wav. No. Audacity Import Raw only works with uncompressed PCM data (essentially, WAV or AIFF files without headers information). It can't turn...

Re: Suggestion
So I still favour allowing customisation of Transport Toolbar for extra buttons and completely flexible button order. Gale, do I assume that by "customization" you mean the ability to remove and add buttons in the toolbar? Yes. Ideally I would see it that you would open a customize dialog...

Re: Audacity E-MU1212m Problem
I'm absolutely positive it's my new memory. My old stuff is PC3-10600 1333 & the new stuff is PC3-10666 my CPU is an AMD Phenom II X4 955. As soon as I put the old 2gb stick in I can use Cool Edit 2000 & Audacity 2.0.6 & 2.1.1 on MME. By which you mean you don't get garbled playback and...

Re: Suggestion
I think if an extra button cannot be added it is sad. Can the people opposed not ignore it.? Audacity has great potential but some things are too awkward I think that other ways to tackle the "awkwardness" are being considered that do not require adding another button. There would be adva...

Re: Aud 2.1.1, Win 7, no stereo mix, HP laptop
Thanks for the help. Windows WASAPI (loopback) is a little better, but not the quality I normally expect from an Audacity recording. The original source is a stream, not something that can be downloaded. You can still "dump" streams to disk in some cases if the server does not do too many...

Re: Shaded waveform view (when zoomed out)
I found out some facts: The shades represent the time consumed by the corresponding amplitudes--the darker the more time consumed. Sorry I do not understand what you mean by time. Are we talking within one pixel width or beyond it? Judging on one pure tone, the more visual banding the lesser the nu...

Re: How much better is a CD rip of a song for vocal removal?
The "help screen" for the legacy Vocal Remover plugin says lossless files are better than MP3 or compressed formats.
