Re: Slider for Recording Volume Not Saving

I would like to set input level at a constant 86, but when I close Audacity after use, the slider reverts to 100. I swear I remember this only being an issue in new versions, but can't find anything. Can someone help me solve this? version 2.1.1 Windows 10 (also remember this from 7) Audacity does ...

Re: New Level Meter Algorithms; Waveform Display?

Oh yes, I of course know about the now current meter style/preference options, no worries, I flipped mine back to the prior style after upgrading! ;) :!: The linked feature request from the wiki, does cover my request but I think clarification is in order, so please read-on. The discussion in that ...

Re: Un-Removable clicks in audio?

Did you download the song or record it?

Have you looked for other copies of the song on YouTube or other sites?

Re: playback distortion/static after 5 mins

Given you are on Windows 10 now, have you obtained the necessary new Windows 10 drivers that Scarlett provide? If not, I recommend you do so: http://beta.focusrite.com/releases/focusrite_usb2_drivers/ . Those drivers have "Fixed enumeration issue with 2i2/2i4/Scarlett Solo on Windows 10" s...

Re: Can't record in Windows 10

To be specific, since upgrading to Windows 10 on both my machines (which were both previously running Audacity), only my microphones are recognized. Among the recording devices I see when right-clicking the speaker icon in the tray, I see only my webcame mic (default device), a Realtek Hi Def mic (...

Re: error opening sound device

"Error opening sound device" doesn't know or care about whether it can access the audio data in your project or not = if not, it would normally just play silence. I suggest you have a look at http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_errors.html#sound_device . If the problem persists please...

Also tell us what version of Audacity and Windows this happened on (see the pink panel at the top of the page).

Re: splitting files

First just mark the location where you want the cut with the cursor (and be sure it's the only track selected). Now with the cursor on your mark, press end on your keyboard to highlight from the cursor to the end of the track (this will be the new 2nd half) Next, go to the edit drop-down and select...

Re: Gain sliders moving during playback

Would you be able to post a screen capture (live video) of this happening? There might be some detail of what you are doing that isn't clear yet.

Re: Shaded waveform view (when zoomed out)

The points where the darkest color starts fading out in both directions is just the average sample value. Is that the same as the RMS points, or not quite? No. The average sample value takes all samples--positive and negative--into consideration. I think when doing the same for the whole audio file...
