If you choose the (hw) devices you will bypass pulse, even if it is installed. But then if Audacious is using the sound device, Audacity will not be able to do so.

i hope someone can help me...I had an audio file worth 5 hrs of recorded material... Also wanted to take an opportunity to mention that in Aud v1 there was the preset NAB equalizer (National Assoc of Broadcasters, US). I liked that one sometimes but you dropped it from v2.
