Re: Problems to set up effects.

This is the Audacity Forum, not the Ardour Forum. Please ask at the latter place if you want to know which version of Ardour is best for you. ;) Did you look at the pink panel at the top of the page? It would be considerably easier to help you if stated what version of Linux you are using and what v...

Re: help with file recovery from temp

If you are using an obsolete 1.2 version of Audacity, see http://legacywiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Crash_Recovery#How_to_recover_unsaved_data for how to find where the temp folder is and how to recover that data. Please see the pink panel at the top of the page for how to update to the latest Audacit...

Re: Recording level low--Playback level high

I have never had this problem. Turntable is hooked up via usb. So does this always happen with the laptop, or did the laptop record at a more reasonable level before? USB audio inputs on some laptops are very "hot" and sometimes different ports are "hotter" than others. Are you ...

Re: Copy to New

It was: Edit/copy to new. - Now it is: Edit/copy, File/new, Edit/paste ( 3 clicks, instead of 1 ) Did Audacity ever have a command that duplicated audio to a new project window? If you want to duplicate to a new track in the same window, Edit > Duplicate or CTRL + D. If you want to move a selection...

Re: Can't import WAV file

I select import audio and it comes up with a message that says Audacity attempted to use FFmpeg to import an audio file but the libraries were not found. In that case the file is not a WAV file (or not a valid WAV file). Or it could be a WAV file containing a lossy format like MP3. WAV is a contain...

OK. ;)

But please, post your question once only. We moderate all posts from new users, so your post will not appear at once.

Also see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#exe about installing Audacity. By the way, do please left-click the download link on http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . You can't right-click download links on the Audacity site any more. I will correct that FA...

Re: CD DRIVE

Please do not SHOUT IN UPPER CASE. I converted to sentence case for you. Audacity is not responsible for whatever disc comes with your turntable. However, the Audacity software on the disc is very likely not an up-to-date version, so it is a blessing in disguise. ;) Simply install the current Audaci...

Re: Vocal removal on documentaries

So straight from DVD usually works better than downloaded YouTube mps3s? Cause that's where I get most of my stuff, downloaded directly from YouTube. The audio in YouTube videos is always AAC, not MP3. What your tool is doing is extracting the audio from the video then transcoding the already lossy...

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports

there is no confusing misinformation about sample format in the track info panel I'm not following that part, sorry. Can you run through what happens in your scheme in your example. Certainly. First, let's look at what happens now (which I think is the same as your "space saving" setting)...
