Re: 2.1.1 Hangs and/or Crashes on Sound Activated Recording
Just noticed some things with 2.1.2A Tool Tips now work. I removed one tool bar and then restored it and then the tool tips started working. I suppose they may have started working earlier, but I probably would have noticed. Anyhow, thought you might be interested. I don't think they are working an...

Re: lame command line export
Lame calls these options "vbr-new" and "vbr-old". Why not use those in Audacity instead of the confusing and misleading "standard" and "fast", since "standard" isn't the standard any more? "Standard" pretty much implies it's the correct ch...

Re: lame command line export
I would rather not have to justify a preset to a committee before I can use it, just experiment myself and give it a name if I want to to re-use it. If you want to persuade a developer to invest the time and effort to develop a new feature, then you need to present a persuasive case for why they sh...

Re: FLAC exported as a 16/24bit FLAC?
Eac3to is identifying the file as a 16/24-bits flac file instead of a 24-bit flac file as it normally does. It becomes an issue when I perform offsets or other adjusts that I would normally script (something I can't do as easily in Audacity). More or less, the program decides to stop reading the re...

Re: Noise while recording a cassette via USB
I am using Windows 7, with the newest version of Audacity. Please, see the pink panel at the top of the page and always give us all three Audacity version numbers. There are bogus versions of Audacity out there not made by us. I purchased a USB cassette to transfer my cassettes to my computer. I fo...

Re: FLAC exported as a 16/24bit FLAC?
OS: Windows 7 Version: 2.1.1 Hi, the title might sound a bit confusing after this but here's my current situation: I'm in the process of merging a few sections of audio from a 16-bit flac stream into a 24-bit flac stream. Whenever I export, it all goes well and quick peak shows that is a 24-bit fla...

Re: lame command line export
Can these be translated to a command line for Audacity export? Yes you can use LAME or other encoders at the command-line for Audacity export. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/exporting_to_an_external_program.html . Which commands in that long list do you find especially useful? The command...

Re: New to Audacity - digitizing vinyl
I am using Audacity 2.1.1 - just downloaded from the .dmg installer. i'm running OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10.5 It worked once and I am still learning how to split tracks. But this pause button either not working with record button or causing it to crash is new to me. I think there could be a cras...

Re: RMS analysis/measurement tool?
I depends how long the audio is. You can write RMS information to a file using Sample Data Export if you choose the "All" header. There is a length limit of 1 million samples, so about 22 seconds at 44100 Hz. However I think the "ACX Check" Nyquist plugin is now the simplest tool...
