Re: effects - amplification : too slow ?
I did some tests, I write 300MB of datas onto the disk, as I said before, it is equivalent to 15min of sound. And what I obtain is : 12 seconds to create 300x1MB 10.5 seconds to create 20x15MB thus the difference between 1MB files and 15MB files is not so high, thus modifying Sequence::sMaxDiskBloc...

Re: effects - amplification : too slow ?
ok, I sucessfully compiled audacity (on VS2010 after a few... tricks) Which version of Audacity did you compile? I discovered how audacity saves onto the temporary folder the modified samples (to allow undo/redo). thus the speed at which effects are computed is dependent of how fast the OS (Windows...

Re: FLAC exported as a 16/24bit FLAC?
What app exactly converted to FLAC? Can we get hold of example files that demonstrate the issue? Eac3to converted it from LPCM to FLAC as it is easy for me to script this when I deal with *.m2ts files (containers) on blurays. A sample of the 16/24-bit clip can be found here . The 16-bit stream last...

Re: Problems to set up effects.
I don't know about kinds of plug ins like LV2 (I saw there are other kinds but I don't know if they are still compatible with Audacity). There are also VST plugins - current Audacity supports those on Linux. In many cases Audacity will display the VST effect's interface if the effect provides an gr...

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports
at the point we drag the 16-bit audio from track 2 alongside the clip already in track 1, in "space-saving" and now, we do have a mix of 16-bit and 32-bit. I think the track info should then say "16-bit/32-bit". I agree that track info saying "16-bit/32-bit float" woul...

Re: Normalizing several files of music
I tried all the possibilities with the Chain command and the result is still the same. It seems I will have to go editing one by one, after normalizing large collections. To the best of my belief, the below procedure retains the seven standard tags that you see in the Audacity Metadata Editor: Crea...

Re: FLAC exported as a 16/24bit FLAC?
They are both LPCM streams which I converted to FLAC then imported into Audacity. What app exactly converted to FLAC? Can we get hold of example files that demonstrate the issue? I open the 24-bit stream first then I open the 16-bit stream and I copy the missing section that I wish to have in the f...

Re: lame command line export
Lame calls these options "vbr-new" and "vbr-old". Why not use those in Audacity instead of the confusing and misleading "standard" and "fast", since "standard" isn't the standard any more? "Standard" pretty much implies it's the correct ch...

Re: lame command line export
And the answer to my question? Are you asking that every LAME command is exposed in the MP3 export options including for example de-emphasis and ID3v2 padding? Or is what really matters to you that you can set your own combination of options as a user preset, and you don't want expansion of options?...

Re: New version of "Crossfade Tracks"
I prefer the behaviour does get into the documentation rather than "suck it and see". To my uneducated eye, it looks like it decides to fade out or in depending on the position of the selection in the track or clip. If the selection is in the left half of the track or clip, it fades in. If...
