Re: lame command line export
but unless you can find official documentation that explicitly states that vbr-old is deprecated or obsolete, I fear that we may be fighting a lost cause. If "the new mode is currently recommended due to both the speed and quality increases" isn't good enough, what do they want? Who choos...

Re: lame command line export
Now you have clarified you want MP3 user presets and not additional exotic MP3 options, I noted your "vote". Of course that does not mean that it will be done. As it says on http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=LAME reports of artifacts when using the new mode do exist No details on ...

Re: effects - amplification : too slow ?
You don't understand that in the same time, with more than 10GB of free space, audacity takes 1min15sec to amplify 15min of sound (which I looked in the history of undo/redo equals 300MB) while I need only 15seconds to write 300MB on my hard drive with a small test program. Thus, there is a problem...

Re: Noise while recording a cassette via USB
I have tired two other USB cords that I know work. I am still getting the screeching noise and instead of waves jumping up and down, there is a solid blue pattern. Any other suggestions? Are you sure you still have Audacity set to record from the USB Audio CODEC? Try doing without Transport > Softw...

Re: FLAC exported as a 16/24bit FLAC?
Thanks for the file. To be clear, is this the "dual bit depth" file created by Audacity? I don't have any tools that would verify the different streams in your attached file, unless presumably I download Eac3to. If Audacity could see different streams in the file you attached, it would sh...

Re: Playback is blank for 1st half, then plays fine for 2nd
Thanks for the good information. Look at Edit > Preferences... then "Directories" at where your Audacity temporary directory is and how much space is on the drive. Each 50 minute recording is about 1 GB by default (if stereo) and each edit of that complete recording takes another 1 GB. The...

Re: New to Audacity - digitizing vinyl
I am using Audacity 2.1.1 - just downloaded from the .dmg installer. i'm running OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10.5 It worked once and I am still learning how to split tracks. But this pause button either not working with record button or causing it to crash is new to me. I think there could be a cras...

Re: Cannot export m4a file
Please, take a look at the pink panel at the top of the page and give us that information. When I try to export using the external program, I copy paste this: ffmpeg -i -acodec alac "%f" into the options box. But I get this error: ffmpeg -i -acodec alac "/Users/tracy/Music/iTunes/iTun...

Re: effects - amplification : too slow ?
I think it would be interesting, first, to understand why it takes ~1min to amplify in audacity while I need only 15seconds to write 300MB of datas, there should be an important loss of time somewhere ? You (and Peter when he tested 2.1.0) are the only ones who found Amplify might take an excessive...
