Re: Help with retrieving recording files
"Audacity®, the Free, Cross-Platform Sound Editor" does not tell us which version of Audacity you have. Please give us all three Audacity version numbers from Help > About Audacity... . The _data folder breaks the audio data into small AU files because Audacity can handle the data faster t...

Re: Short silence in the beginning when exporting to mp3
When I export a wav-file to mp3 the program is inserting a short silence in the beginning of the track. Why? Like Steve wrote, it's in the mp3 format. There's a historical reason for that. Older CD players can't play a CD that has no silence between tracks. A workaround used to be that the player i...

Re: Unable to import mp4
FFmpeg default build options enable AAC playback - the playback support is native, that is, it doesn't depend on any external libraries. The recommended FFmpeg 2.2.2 for Windows does have AAC decoding enabled. That assumes an MP4 file contains AAC audio, as Steve says. There is no need to change the...

Re: lame command line export
Really? You've never edited Wikipedia and come across blatant errors and made up factoids that have been gathering dust for years then. That is not generic Wikipedia. It is Hydrogenaudio's wiki. It's a 10-year old remark that can't be proven or disproven because it's so vague. I can prove it, if th...

Re: Problems to set up effects.
Sounds like Audacity has some moonphase bug with CALF LV2's then, or you and Get_Ready are doing something with those effects that I am not doing.steve wrote:They work fine in Ardour3.Gale Andrews wrote:Do those CALF LV2's crash in Ardour?
Can you say what you would do to make a crash happen?

Re: Noise while recording a cassette via USB
I read in "Recording with USB turntable or USB cassette decks", page 3 under "Devices", "Windows Vista and later call most USB external devices "microphones". That is only by way of explanation that the name of the USB cassette recording device could appear in Aud...

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports
Our example is: Track 1 contains 32-bit data and the track info says "32-bit float" Track 2 contains 16-bit data and the track info says "16-bit" Drag the 16-bit audio from track 2 to track 1. Drag the 32-bit audio from track 1 to track 2 At this point, is the 16-bit data in tra...

Re: New version of "Crossfade Tracks"
Is this case really common enough to be worth bothering with, or could it just be documented as a limitation? Unless you have a strong objection, I think that I'll go with documenting the limitation for now. Certainly it must be documented as a limitation, if there are no "fixes", and a w...

Re: Records Only Right Channel
I consider this audio "line-in" (blue) to be stereo. If it's marked blue, indeed it should be a proper stereo input meant for strong line-level signals. But do look at all the line-in's settings in Windows Sound, just in case. At the moment I have 32 bit audio driver, although having 64 b...

If you make a recording now of anything, like a conversation outside, can you reproduce those noises?
