Re: Sound level adjusting when capturing from USB
Can I see somewhere how the peak amplitude changes when adjusting Amplification (dB) slider? How has Audacity found the level 19.1 in my case? Is that recommendation of the software? Have you read http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/amplify.html ? By default, Amplify sets the loudest peak in the a...

Re: Did Installing Dlls Leave me Unable to Open My File?
I went back to work on an Audacity project this morning and it prompted me to update, installing dlls. What exactly was that message? Audacity supplied by us should not show a message that says what you quote, explicitly asking you to "update" and "install DLL's". It might say i...

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 will not launch
I have just, on the advice of Gale Andrews, downloaded Audacity 2.1.1 for Mac. It seems to have deleted some but not all Audacity applications in my computer If you install Audacity into the same folder, older versions of Audacity files will be replaced with the newer versions that are in the insta...

Re: Export Problem
If your audio editors support it, you can also export as one lossless FLAC or RF64 file. Those formats do not have the 4 GB file size limit.
RF64 is accessed by choosing "Other uncompressed files" then clicking "Options...".

Re: Aud 2.1.1 Crashing on OS X 10.7.5
Hi. In using Audacity on two separate macs, with no other problems, Audacity consistently and spontaneously crashes on both. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! On what actions does it consistently crash? Can you post the latest Audacity crash report from the Console app ? Please see here for how t...

Re: Too Much Gain?
The weirdness lies again in the fact that I've been using the same setup in my booth and the same Audacity settings for almost 2 years and this is the first time that this has happened. I guess that's not completely true. I have a new Lenovo laptop and I updated to Windows 10. I also assume that my...

Re: Can someone tell me what the heck this is!?
The sample above should be Jefferson Airplane, with the clicking sound. How long is that clip, then we can identify it? Your link plays two different clips. Host is MME. Is that ok? MME is most compatible, but not necessarily the best. I've explained the factors that come into play when choosing ho...

Re: Exporting 32 bit float files: dither or not?
I was referring to storage lifetime. I contend that a professionally cleaned LP that is stored properly for 50 years would not degrade while stored. Doesn't the enjoyment come from listening to the music? All of my CDs and records have been played many times. Well yes, except that CD's get in the w...

Re: Can someone tell me what the heck this is!?
Which sample were we listening to? There is a loud 12 second one and a quiet 8 second one with whooshy noises. You can always attach samples to your post, preferably in WAV up to 2 MB in size. See How to post an audio sample . 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) Both boxes are checked, allowing...

Re: Too Much Gain?
To give you (hopefully) a better idea of what's happening, the first chapter title is "Hating God haters" So, instead of that first "H" sound being soft as it is with the raw audio, when the Compressor function is applied ( with the accompanying gain increase) the "H" ...
