Re: Mac OS X 10.11; Audacity 2.1.1 dmg installer
I recently upgraded my Desk top Mac to OS X 10.11. What OS X did you upgrade from? Something old like Lion? Did you also upgrade Audacity from a previous version? I'm using mobilepre usb . I recorded a Voice track and got a repetitive click through the recording which is unusable. As a temporary wo...

Re: Getting 7.1 output to work properly?
Shouldn't this be there too? :D I think this is one of the 1/10 questions that isn't in the FAQ. I added a FAQ for this "How can I play or export multi-channel (surround sound) files?" to the 2.1.2-alpha Manual a while ago. So that FAQ will be in the Manual for the 2.1.2 release when made...

Re: How to match bit rate of original file for game? [2.2.1
2.2.1 exe Can we hope that is a typo for "2.1.1"? If not, hurry along to http://audacityteam.org/download/ and download 2.1.1 from us. I'm trying to edit some video game (Alien Swarm) files but they end up garbled in the game. They sound fine when played back both in Audacity and with Win...

Re: BUG. "Apply Chain" doesn't work with "Silence"
So if a generator in a Chain was given a start time of 1 min 30 seconds, and a duration of 30 seconds, would it "insert" the generated audio at 1 min 30 seconds, or would it overwrite the track from 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes? I'm thinking that we would want both options Currently, ...

Re: No wav file appears on my mac
now the only problem is that when I click on File > Open> itunes, it says Open Itunes to populate this list. It doesn't pull up my list of music in itunes. I can go around it by dropping songs onto my desk top and importing that way, but if you know how to 'Populate' my itunes list let me know. Sor...

Re: BUG. "Apply Chain" doesn't work with "Silence"
I explained the _default_ I expected (and needed) in the Bug submission: << If same file is "manually" opened (File > Open) and then Generate > Silence... (say, same 2 sec.) the result is CORRECT, AS EXPECTED: 2 sec. silence PREpended to the actual audio/file. >> If a "real", me...

Re: BUG. "Apply Chain" doesn't work with "Silence"
That is a design limitation if even user presets don't save the duration, yes. Generator "Presets" do not store the duration setting. This is an example of how the settings are stored for the "Tone" generator: Parameters=Amplitude="0.800000000000" Frequency="440.0...

Re: Playback is blank for 1st half, then plays fine for 2nd
Thanks, June. For the record, does Norton Internet Security still have under Settings > Tasks Scheduling > Automatic Tasks a way of turning off the cleaning of Windows Temp Files? Really that is a poor description - Audacity temp files are not "Windows" temp files. Can you configure when N...

Re: Sound level adjusting when capturing from USB
When there is cutting no allowed and the recorging meter shows in two channels (stereo) red marker, is that OK or reason to reduce recording level? How then when only left or rigt channel has red marker? What do you mean by "no cutting allowed"? Clipping in one channel only is still bad. ...

Re: Moving tracks up/down - specifying how far
Thanks, Steve. other drop down commands should be assignable as well, e.g. Split to Mono or Make Stereo. All of them? That would make 14 new user-assignable shortcuts, by my count. The ones that David changed were the most important in that they were most likely to be used repetitively. Gale
