Re: Trying to record from another DAW to Audacity..?!?
It seems that Audacity can't record Reaper when Asio is selected on Reaper...! ...(?) ASIO is a protocol for audio communication. It's proprietary with a non-disclosure agreement, so as an open source application we cannot ship Audacity with ASIO support. Audacity would probably not hear the ASIO s...

Re: can't record more than 1sec on Wndows 7 Audacity 2.1.1
I'm glad it's working for now. Did you change any setting in Audacity to make that happen? Do videos play now? If videos play, I think that indicates your computer is too busy. Not to alarm you, but have you done a deep anti-virus check recently? Viruses make the computer extra busy and cause weird ...

Re: Volume level low but clipping
It would make me wonder if there is a setting somewhere on my desktop with the half volume issue that can be changed to work the way it had before. There is no setting in Windows. If the UR-12 has its own control panel there might be some setting to disregard the empty right channel input and send ...

Re: can't record more than 1sec on Windows 7 Audacity 2.1.1
I do think it is something to do with the buffer as now when I press record, the recording line with mini arrow on top which is usually green and moves along when recording is red and stays still so clearly isn't picking up anything at all It means the recording is stalling, not that there is neces...

Re: can't record more than 1sec on Windows 7 Audacity 2.1.1
It doesn't allow me to attach the document with my print screens on - what are you allowed to attach to these posts then? Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 . It is best just to attach the separate images, not a document with embedd...

Re: Volume level low but clipping
Does recording in stereo let you record at +/- 1.0 without clipping? If so I suggest you record in stereo and follow the instructions in my first reply to split to mono and delete the redundant track. Then you can export a mono file if that is required or use the same Track Dropdown Menu to make wha...

Re: Volume level low but clipping
My volume level when recording is about half the level shown in the audio track, and yet if I increase the recording volume or microphone gain, I get serious clipping. When you increase recording volume or mic gain, does the waveform peak shoot up to +/-1, or does it stay at +/- 0.5 but you then ge...

Re: Measure Duplication?
I'm trying to change keys You were told to use Change Tempo, because you wanted to extend a chord. Have you done that yet? Change Pitch does not extend the selection. I'm trying to change key from C4 to B - down 2 semitones. I'm using the minus mark, and getting the right results in the boxes. But ...

Re: can't record more than 1sec on Windows 7 Audacity 2.1.1
But have restarted the computer and have only been using the default settings of 44100 and 100ms and the problem is the same. Then try increasing the Audacity "Audio to buffer" above 100 ms, as I also suggested. Is there something I might have pressed that would mean it would only record ...

Re: can't record more than 1sec on Windows 7 Audacity 2.1.1
What you describe is probably a buffering issue. Don't be too ambitious with buffer settings or high sample rates. Leave Audio to buffer in Audacity's Recording Preferences at 100 ms, or even increase it. Don't go above 96000 Hz project rate (bottom left of Audacity) which is the 2i2 maximum sample ...
