Re: Why ignoring Mac OS navigation rules?
Please see the pink panel at the top of the page and give us that information. If you prefer to use browser-like keyboard shortcuts for zooming, you can set these in Keyboard Preferences . Audacity is a cross-platform app, not specifically a Mac app. We are limited by the features of the wxMac inter...

Re: New technology giving me headache.
Tell us what you read already and what the problem is where you can only record one track. You enabled Transport > Overdub, right? http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html . And you have the Scarlett Solo driver http://uk.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/sc...

Re: Stream is active ... Unable to gather information ...?
Yep, I found it about 10 minutes before I read your post. It was a change in the Temp folder. Seems to me that an error should have popped up, no? Yes, and we have that on our radar, but throwing error message boxes from errors that appear in the log is harder than it might seem to be: http://bugzi...

Re: Zoom Normal (Cmd+2) cursor position
I initially started this thread because of the inconsistency of the Zoom Normal (Cmd+2) as compared to Zoom In and Zoom Out. I do a lot of editing of spoken tracks that have undesirable audience noises or speaker caused noises so zoom in to deal with the issue then Zoom Normal to zoom back out to p...

Re: Zoom Normal (Cmd+2) cursor position
Does that mean that we would centre the playback (or recording) cursor (moving or paused) after Zoom Normal, as long as white space after the project was not showing? Ctrl+1 and Ctrl+3 look OK to me during playback, so I'd suggest that Ctrl+2 should work the same way. Except that Zoom In and Zoom O...

Re: AAC 7.1 possible?
Your syntax: ffmpeg -i - -strict experimental -c:a aac -q:a 10 "C:\Video\file" will not work in Audacity. That is why it says it find a suitable output format for 'C:\Video\file'. Use the syntax you quoted "as is": ffmpeg -i - -strict experimental -c:a aac -q:a 10 "%f" ...

Re: Pausing and playing out-of-focus?
So this is yet another request for "global Audacity shortcuts" that work in all apps. Audacity has the "potential" to implement global shortcuts now that we have migrated to wxWidgets 3. To the best of my belief AutoHotkey won't help (much). An app has to have focus for a shortcu...

Re: Amplify effect does not (audibly) amplify - what does it
Uh...no, that's not it either: http://s7.postimg.org/ynai0zj6z/Auda.jpg as you can see, the DFX Speakers Properties dialog doesn't even have the Enhancements/Loudness Equalization tab. As far as I know, DFX applies its effects to all sound devices. I am not quite sure whether the DFX Speakers virtu...

Re: Stream is active ... Unable to gather information ...?
Look at Edit > Preferences... then the "Directories" section. Assuming you have not saved a project, that is where Audacity writes to. That directory needs write permissions and the drive that directory is on needs the space.

Re: effects> Equalizer
ultima.XML Use audacity as equalizer. At home and in the car. Place a curve in the case of utilities' other forum friends who may like me use audacity to equalize the tracks. Great program. Thanks to the team of Audacity. Thank you, I moved your post to this topic where we store user's suggested EQ...
