Re: high pitched noise recording from cassette
If you want to use the USB connection, try another USB cable. It is quite common for the USB cables that come with "converters" to be faulty. If you want to use any headphones out or line out that the converter has, disconnect the USB cable. Then connect the appropriate stereo TRS cable fr...

Re: Can't Record from Cassette Player
I've downloaded Audacity 2.1.0 The latest version is 2.1.1: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . I can't get Audacity to record any sound from the cassette player, which is a Sony TCM-939. It's a fairly recent model of portable cassette player, 1990's or thereabouts as far as I'm aware. Anywa...

Re: no sound when cable plugged in recorder/audacity not rea
I have an older cassette player. It is aiwa brand and model CX-NA22. We are connecting with an audio sterio cable. We are connecting to the microphone port. ( it is identified as PHONES). Phones is an output - sound comes out of it. You do not want to connect to that. According to the Inspiron 531S...

Re: Zoom Normal (Cmd+2) cursor position
This one is not the only example of course, it was just the one I had not given steps for. I will add that I have maximised Auadacity at 1024*768. I find it difficult to see exactly what is happening in that example because (a) I am unable to align 29.5 seconds exactly with the centre of the screen,...

I thought so too, but that makes that fizzy crackling worse (heard in laptop speakers).DVDdoug wrote:You need your music LOUDER (more dynamically compressed) for YouTube!

Re: Distorted sound coming from computer speakers....
I can hear what you mean in my laptop speakers but only very slightly in HiFi speakers (which cost £80 many years ago). I think there is fizzy middle frequency crackle which the bass (and treble) covers up when heard in speakers that can reproduce a greater range of frequencies. Even reducing the ba...

Re: Zoom Normal (Cmd+2) cursor position
but when the zoom in/out code itself behaves inconsistently Could you give an actual example of the inconsistent behaviour that you are observing? I have already given examples in various posts in this topic, as Cliff noted, and answered when you had a question. Don't those issues reproduce on Linu...

Re: Distorted sound coming from computer speakers....
Doesn't the "Bass Cut" in Effect > Equalization... fix it? What laptop speakers are they - built-in? You can't expect much from those and it would be wrong to master for them in my opinion. Speakers that attach to the audio output can be quite good without spending a lot of money. Gale

Re: no sound when cable plugged in recorder/audacity not rea
I have Windows VISTA. I have Audacity 2.11. Is that a typo for "2.1.1"? If not, please uninstall that 2.11 version because it is bogus. Then download 2.1.1 from us: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Don't download Audacity from anywhere but there. I have a Dell inspiron 531S and ...
