Re: Basic: how do I create a project?
I can see the problem with Save Project As... in that it spews a warning immediately which does not make complete sense when you are saving a project that does not yet have any audio. I did not mention File > New... because (in the case where you already have an empty project window without changes)...

Re: Problem with vocals doing vinyl to CD conversion
I did forget to mention that via Audacity the recorded file does play well through the speakers on my computer. Now things are getting stranger... That seems to say you ARE getting a good recording and something bad is happening when you play it back. Absolutely. I played the submitted sample throu...

Re: [WIN 8.1, AUD 2.1.1] Record External ONLY
If the aim is to record into Audacity using the AT2020, set it as recording device in Device Toolbar , bypassing Noise Gator and then try Audacity's Noise Reduction on the recording. If you feel Noise Gator is essential then you'll need to configure a VB-Cable input to contain only the signal from A...

Re: Recording vox always sound pitched down/distorted
I'm using Windows 10, Audacity 2.x and I used the .exe installer. Please give us all three Audacity version numbers from Help > About Audacity... . If it says "2.x" it's bogus and may harm your computer. Audacity supplied by us is always available at http://audacityteam.org/download/windo...

Re: Loss of quality using EQ
I downloaded 2.1.1 before writing you, but it fails to work on my machine. The program opens and immediately closes again. There is an error reported the first time you try, but it flashes by so quickly that I can not read it. That's why I'm using 2.1.0. I don't use Mac, but perhaps that's the &quo...

Re: Writing timestamp log during onRecord causing X server c
Please indicate what Linux distro, exactly what source you are recording from and exactly what Audacity sources you compiled. Leaving aside for now if it's a programming or Audacity problem (I'm not a programmer) is there anything useful in the X.Org log that points to some problem library or driver...

Re: Recorded volume halved on Windows 10 but now windows 7
To be clear, Mbox2 is meant for use with ProTools software. Audacity does not officially support Mbox or DigiDesign devices. If it does largely work, it's a bonus. ;) Your Audacity version is rather old. The current version is 2.1.1: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows although I don't expect i...

Re: MP3: I can't delete the selected area
Thank you for the log and good information. :) Probably you are still playing or paused and just need to press the yellow Stop button. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_editing.html#grayed . The missing DLL's are not a problem, but if you install FFmpeg it will let you import and export m...

Re: Audacity will not open Audacity Project File
That's the thing though, the project data folder and the aup file are both right there on the desktop, yet it still doesn't recognize it. I can open other projects just fine. Please, if you need help, have a look at the pink panel at the top of the page and give us that essential information. If yo...

It is not a new audio file, it's a new project. Exporting produces an audio file.ceilidhdad wrote:change "New" to read "New Audio File"
