Re: Why can you not record into an existing track?

Despite what Steve says, there are apps that make an acceptable job of "destructive" punch-in record if you practice at them. You would not have to redo the retakes every time. "Acceptable" by what standard? Good enough for a professional quality audiobook? Yes, I believe so. Ce...

Re: Sporadic recording on first take of podcast

Did you notice anything wrong before you walked away from the computer? Did you ever save this as an Audacity project or did you leave it open without saving it? If you left it open without saving it, see http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=283948#p283948 as a possible explanation. If you ...

Re: Equalizer in 2.1.1 No Longer Automatically Remembers Set

It was a bug that is now fixed in our code. If you use Equalization a lot, you could use the 2.1.2rc1 (release candidate 1) from the top of http://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html . There may be another release candidate to address some interference problems we are having with anti-virus products, but ...

What is the name of the exact name of the mic that you select in Device Toolbar?

Does it need any drivers reinstalling? Check that on the manufacturer's site.

Have you restarted the computer recently?

Despite what Steve says, there are apps that make an acceptable job of "destructive" punch-in record if you practice at them. You would not have to redo the retakes every time. Some of us want "destructive" punch-in (of course with Undo) because it should be much quicker to imple...

Re: mix and render to new track

See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tr ... u.html#mix. Yes it will apply for example the gain or pan setting on the track to the waveform, and so the gain or pan slider will return to centre.

Re: Server execution failed

Also, you may find a solution here: Windows 7 Media Player - Server execution failed - Microsoft Community. You may have to go through and try everything.

It's unlikely to be an Audacity issue - it just doesn't make the sort of system changes that could cause this.

Re: Extracting Binaural Beats from audio

Using the track Spectrogram view (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audio_track_dropdown_menu.html#spgram), if the "Window size" is set large enough in Preferences (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/spectrograms_preferences.html) then the binaural tones should be visible. ...
