Re: windows 10 problem
I'm was using audacity 2.1.1 with windows 7 on a dell inspiron laptop about 5 yrs old. I use it to convert vinyl lp's to digital. Didn't have a problem until I upgraded to win 10. Now some instruments aren't being recorded. it's not the cartridge or usb cable as I can record fine on my son's mac. 2...

Re: Cant record system audio after upgrading sound card
Please, give us the exact Audacity version (all three numbers) - see the pink panel at the top of the page. Don't abbreviate. If yours really says "v2" it is a bogus version not made by us. The current Audacity version is 2.1.1 http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Where is the system...

Re: timeshift clip changes size?
I agree it can "for some reason" be hard "sometimes" to drag the clip back again into its original track. It "seems" more difficult now to do this in 2.1.2-alpha than 2.1.1. If you CTRL-drag and the clip won't go back, you only need a single Edit > Undo Time Shift to pu...

Re: My recording is being cut short when I export it
I have recorded an oral history which runs to just over three hours. When I export the audio it takes about 5 minutes to export, but produces a file just 4.30 minutes long? Another possibility is that you are out of disk space on the drive you are exporting to. When Audacity has no more space to wr...

Re: Equalizer in 2.1.1 No Longer Automatically Remembers Set
With the new download, though, there is a problem with the Draw Curves/Graphic EQ settings. I couldn't get Draw Curves to work and couldn't get the other EQ setting to hold as the default. The bigger layout did look nice, though. I'll wait till the next release for the fix. I went back to the old o...
Re: Volume
One major feature I think I discovered is that the microphone seems to be ON and is picking up sounds from immediate vicinity eg coughs from me and passing traffic Should it not be limited to the actual LP being recorded? As previously explained, you need to select the correct recording device in A...

Re: How Do I Add more RIAA Curves?
I was just surprised with the above pics when both RIAA reduced the two original spikes around the 1.16 mark. The RIAA curve (supplied by us) as expected boosts the bass and reduces the treble. If those spikes after 1 minute 15 seconds were high frequencies, one would expect those spikes to reduce....

Re: timeshift clip changes size?
Thanks, Ken. I assume the apparent "larger size" of the split clip when dragged into another track and hence the oddness in boundary snap guide behaviour when dragging the clip in the new track is because a split always has white space between the two clips. You can see that space if you w...

Re: Audacity Does Not Recognize Headphones - No Sound
If you plug in an external device such as a computer mic or headphones while Audacity is running and the device is not shown in Audacity's Device Toolbar, use Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in the Audacity menu bar.
