It can be difficult sometimes to see if you are recording a flat line or the proper audio but just too quiet. From your description we thought you were not recording the mic at all, but to check that any time, just use Effect > Amplify... and OK which makes the audio as loud as it can be.

Re: error opening sound device
My external microphones are working. Maybe not if the system can't see them. Exactly, they are not working on your current computer and will never do so if Windows does not recognise them. That is why you need to enable those mics by following http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=293042#p2...

Re: Creating 5.1 FLAC from multiple .wavs
You might obtain "MediaInfo" from http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows and compare the channel mapping in the exported FLAC with a 5.1 FLAC that plays correctly on your client's hardware or with some other known correct 5.1 FLAC. Get the MediaInfo version without installer,...

Re: Windows 10 MP3 Length
Might you have contacted our feedback address recently about this? If so, we have been through this all before. If you import the Audacity-exported MP3's back into Audacity they should be about 20 or 30 milliseconds longer than the source audio. If that is the case, that is correct for MP3 and Audac...

Re: I NEED HELP, nothing is recording!
Audacity does not see a new mic that you plug in after Audacity is already open. This thing isn't a device. It's an analog microphone plugged into the soundcard which never goes away. Yes I should have qualified that as "not necessarily" in the case of a computer mic with a TRS plug. Idea...

I have not been able to communicate my problem to this point. The screenshot shows us that you have no recording devices enabled in Windows. If you wish to solve that, please do everything I suggested in this post: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=293042#p293042 . If you do not follow ...

Re: MakeAudacity always use an audio channel (PulseAudio)
Please, always give us the information requested in the pink panel at the top of the page. The delay problem mentioned in the video is that audio playback in a short selection does not start immediately. if you need to use pulse, you could try reducing "Audio to buffer" in the Audacity Rec...

Re: I NEED HELP, nothing is recording!
Audacity does not see a new mic that you plug in after Audacity is already open. Have you tried restarting Audacity or using Transport > Rescan Audio Devices at the top of the Audacity window? If that does not help, the mic may not be enabled in Windows Sound. Follow the steps in this Windows Sound ...

Re: Audacity Asked to Delete Unused Files
How do I view the time stamp? Finder only shows you "short time" which does not show you seconds by default. You can set a custom short time including seconds in the Mac "Language and Region" Preferences (click the "Advanced..." button). The recovery is probably easier...
