Re: File dialogs won't open
I have the Creators Update and don't have this problem. A recent report http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=95508 said this problem existed in an Insider build. See if there is anything in that topic that helps, notably resetting the Audacity Preferences, checking if an anti-virus...

Re: What do you call this sound? Is it possible to fix it?
So the sound in question is this: Another Weird One.wav What do you object to in that, at what point on the Timeline exactly? You can see lots of spikes at Analyze > Plot Spectrum... but are they relevant to whatever you think is wrong with it? I listened in HiFi Speakers but I am over 60 now so my...

Also. the maximum sample rate for MP3 is 48000 Hz. That is why you are asked to resample.

or bug in the PortAudio audio I/O library we use[/url]. Maybe we should notify the author? I found some list but I don't see the right raw. You would have to write to their mailing list: http://www.portaudio.com/contacts.html . Here is the report on our bug tracker: http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org...

Re: Desync issue Audacity 2.1.0 executable Windows 7-64
I am not clear if you have checked the Samson's sample rate or not, but if not you can do it on the Recording tab of Windows Sound.
The current Audacity version is 2.1.3 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows.

Re: Recording my old Vinil LP's
Audacity cannot record from non-existent audio devices. As a test, have you tried plugging a TRS 3.5 mm cable into the blue Line-In port? If the Line-In then appears in Windows Sound as connected but it says Disabled, right-click over it and choose "Enable". Then restart Audacity and you s...

Re: Report a Bug ... v. 2.1.3
I set "Audacity Properties /Compatibility /Privilege Level /[ticked] Run this program as administrator" and when I tried the Portable Settings procedure I DID NOT have the error messages but all my settings were defaulted That is what adding an empty Portable Settings is supposed to do. I...

Re: "Space gun" noises intermittently
The answer probably isn't simple unless you can give us more information to go on. What is your version number of Audacity? See the pink panel at the top of the page. What equipment plays the cassettes (make and model number)? How is that equipment connected to the computer? How are you making the c...

Re: Volume balance changes on start
Why do you need unbalanced settings? Because you are farther from one speaker than another? You did not say what version of Audacity you are using, but unfortunately It is an Audacity bug (or bug in the PortAudio audio I/O library we use) in recent Audacity versions. It is listed in the Audacity 2.1...

Re: 'Error opening audio device' using WASAPI and usb headse
Stereo Mix can only be used for recording the built-in sound card. Simulated surround sound or other processing might have turned itself on again. Try turning those off in any control panel that the headset has, if you don't want them. If you are playing 6-channel audio, then try setting the recordi...
