Re: Hard Limiter gone?

Thanks for the clarification Gale. I agree that for a very small amount of clipping the difference is negligible, but Franky666 wrote that he was using the Limiter with settings: "Soft Clip, 0, 0, -10, 25, No" These setting produce a significant amount of clipping when applied to a tone w...

Re: Hard Limiter gone?

This is what I get when using the clipping settings in the Limiter effect. The first half is soft clipping at -10 dB, the second half is hard clipping at -10 dB. To me the change in sound is immediately obvious. Is it not obvious to you? That is obvious, but with a sine tone 0.8 or 0.3 amplitude in...

Re: Export Audio only allows AIFF

I just tested with 2.1.2 RC1 and have no problems with the Export list. I also de-Retinized 2.1.1 and that works too. OK thanks, I closed the bug report that we had open for that. A couple minor things I noticed with 2.1.2 RC1: the left panel is fuzzy (not "retina") This is with Retinizer...

Re: Distorted sound and freezing after clicking stop button

Assuming you are using the "pulse" or "default" playback device this is a known issue. Please see here for workarounds: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Linux_Issues#pulse.

Re: How to find a specific sound

You could perhaps Edit > Duplicate... the whole track, Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono then try this script on the duplicate track: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=241775#p241775 . Use Legacy version 3 syntax in Nyquist Prompt. If it works, the audio will be trimmed to the bell sound ins...

Re: Export Audio only allows AIFF

I guess you have used Retinizer on Audacity which causes this issue. See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=86330 . If so it would be very helpful to us if you could use "Audacity 2.1.2 RC1 (for testing)" from http://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/ . That version is buil...

Re: Importing MP3 gives flat line

Look at Edit > Preferences... then "Directories". This shows the temporary folder Audacity records or imports to before you save an Audacity project. Make sure you have permission to write to that folder (right-click over it in File Explorer, then choose "Properties"). Also make ...

Re: I seem to record unplugged speakers...

Audacity only records from one source at a time. So if you were wanting to record your mic and gameplay simultaneously in Audacity then you can only do that by feeding the mic into the output and recording from stereo mix or similar input for recording computer playback. If you only want to record t...

Re: Windows 10 error opening device or Internal PortAudio er

There have been references to 'stereo mix' in this thread. I just upgraded from win 7 to win 10 and lost stereo mix - nowhere to be found. I have the Realtek HD Audio system. I went through all the usual driver update stuff to no avail. And of course no ability to record with Audacity anything play...

Re: Is WASAPI limited to 44000Hz?

Hi Gale Sorry to trouble you again but suddenly the recording volume control has been disabled after a windows 10 64 bit update. It works when using MME but not WASAPI. I have reinstalled Audacity but that didn't solve the problem. It will almost certainly be an audio drivers change. If you have ju...
