Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Windows 10
When I bought the "Cassette to CD Kit" several years ago (at http://www.CassetteToCDKit.com), the installation CD came with the Audacity 1.2.6 program and, on the same disc, came with the ClearClick Audio CD Burner (with a separate icon on the wallpaper), which seamlessly allowed me to bu...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Windows 10
Audacity 2.1.3 supports Windows 10. You don't have to be on Windows to find out what versions of Windows Audacity supports. Just go to http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows#sysreq.kozikowski wrote:I expect it to work with Windows 10 although I'm flying blind since I'm not a Windows elf.

Re: How do I write-protect a particular track?
You don't, in Audacity.
What are you trying to do, exactly? Make a copy protected CD, for example? Export the track as WAV then prevent other users on the computer using that WAV?

Re: Always an additional "-project data" folder
The Windows installer of Audacity does not remove custom plugins that you added. So the people trying to resolve an Audacity problem by reinstalling are even further away from likely success. The Windows installer of Audacity never removed the custom plugins you added into Audacity's Plug-Ins folde...

Re: Editing in 32-bit vs 16-bit sampling formats
if I use 16-bit format, would I be able to skip dithering? And is editing in 16-bit format even a good idea in general? Most of the edits I'll be doing are copying, time shifting, mixing of overlapping tracks, and maybe fade in/out. Audacity processes internally at 32-bit float even if you choose 1...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Windows 10
Thank you. Is it definitively known that Audacity 1.2.6 is incompatible with Windows 10? I We don't support 1.2.6 any longer. This means you should use 2.1.3 or we can't help you with your questions. 1.2.6 may or may not crash after recording, or may have any number of undocumented problems. To avo...

I strongly recommend downloading from us at http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows. We always have the current version of Audacity, which is 2.1.3 right now.hojo wrote:I am new to this forum, and am using Audacity 2.1.0, on Win 8, I probably got the .exe

Re: Always an additional "-project data" folder
Audacity has no control over what Dropbox does. The MP3 or any file you exported using an export command is self-sufficient and does not need the project folder.

Re: Always an additional "-project data" folder
Make sure you have protection copies of all your plugs-ins and add-ons and say yes when it asks you to reset preferences and settings. I don't understand. The Windows installer of Audacity does not remove custom plugins that you added. "Reset Preferences" in the Windows installer gives yo...
