Thanks, Dick. The Preview error has been fixed since 2.1.2 RC1. Try the 2.1.2 RC2 when it gets posted on FossHub.

Re: Recording fades out and in
How do I "make sure Windows sound services aren't trying to help me"? Please be specific. The specifics are in the link Koz gave you. I am not sure if you have already seen this, but double-check it: Why do my recordings fade out or sound as if they were made in a tunnel? . If that does n...

Re: New Audacity Installation Not Recording
I am trying to record You Tube or Spotify or other sound over the internet. If you reinstall Windows you may need to reinstall the sound device. Assuming you have a branded computer like Dell or Lenovo, go to their site and install the latest Windows 7 audio drivers for your computer model. Then go...

Re: Audacity locking up issue
IMG_1151.JPG I have attached an image of the error I am getting on Audacity. I am running the latest version of Audacity as well. Please, give us all three Audacity version numbers (see the pink panel at the top of the page). My guess is that the cable I am using for the USB mic is in need of repla...

Re: Checksum added to MP3
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think FLAC automatically embeds the checksum of the audio data only so you can change tags/metadata (which would change the checksum of the entire file) without screwing-up the checksum for the audio data. Yes, you're correct, Doug, and that "Audio MD5"...

Re: Where to find "Apply Chain" files?
In the chain itself, I have it set up like this: 01 ChangePitch Percentage="-20.000000000000" 02 -END- You mentioned something about exporting. Should I have had something like "ExportMP3" in the chain too? As it says on http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/apply_chain.html , fo...

Re: Audacity keeps crashing
This may happen unless you record one track only in the sole project window, export or save project as required, then quit and restart Audacity before working on further tracks or recordings. Could you try "Audacity 2.1.2 RC1 (for testing)" from http://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html and let...

Re: VST Plugin Issues Win 10
Please always tell us your version of Audacity (all three numbers) - see the pink panel at the top of the page. Assuming you have the current Audacity 2.1.1 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows , see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#vst_install . The V...

Re: Where to find "Apply Chain" files?
When applying a Chain to files, the exported files will be saved in a folder named "cleaned" in the same folder that the original files came from. The original files are not changed.
