Re: Recording telephone conversations via a USB Voice Modem
I was reading it that the software package provided the drivers that turned the modem into a USB audio device recognized by Windows - that was the case with a USB modem I had in the past - but perhaps the modem is plug and play without the software package. Does the device have the same name in Wind...

Re: Recording telephone conversations via a USB Voice Modem
When I then go into XP's "Sound Recorder" and attempt to record, up pops a window stating "Another application is recording audio. Stop recording with this other application and then try to record with Sound Recorder again." I can't, for the life of me, figure out what else woul...

Re: Recording telephone conversations via a USB Voice Modem
Sound recorder in Windows 7 is unbelievably basic, so I really couldn't tell you more with respect to it. It's extremely basic in XP too. That's what makes it such a good diagnostic tool. When I then go into XP's "Sound Recorder" and attempt to record, up pops a window stating "Anoth...

Re: Audacity Deleting Whilst Recording
Norton or some cleanup application has very likely deleted your recording because it monitors Audacity's temporary directory for cleanup. If Norton is the cause, turn off its "Windows temporary file cleaner". Another solution in Audacity is to open Edit > Preferences... then "Director...

Re: Pioneer DJM 750
If you connected the Pioneer after launching Audacity, you need to use Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in the Audacity menu bar, or to restart Audacity. If you need more help please give us your Audacity version (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page). The latest Audacity ver...

Re: Program to edit 8 bit wave files
I am searching a program to edit 8 bit wave files (22050 Hz) directly. In Audacity, 8 bit files can be exported only, editing is not possible. Highly relevant to that is what operating system you are using. Are you still on OS X, if so what version exactly? And what version of Audacity are you usin...

Re: Sound dies when running audacity
We can't help with almost no information to go on. What version of Windows and Audacity? See the pink panel at the top of the page. Make and model number of the headset? Have you tried a different USB port? What are you doing when you run Audacity - playing audio, recording your voice, recording you...

Re: Recording telephone conversations via a USB Voice Modem
Is "Modem #0 Line Record" the recording source you choose in XP where the modem will record into Audacity? "Modem #0 Line Record" sounds more like a built-in sound card input, except that those are normally spoof inputs that are not actually connected to any hardware.

If the recording level is not the problem, try changing the USB cable and ensuring it is tight at both ends.
