Thanks man,

Can someone point to where the two shades are described in the HELP manual, please.
It is there in at least one place:

Re: Compressor function

Steve has an experimental Peak Limiter / Expander that I use for expansion.

Chris's Compressor which Koz mentions does expansion if the Compression factor is negative.

Re: Hoarse voice on recording playback

Hallo I record at 44100 I installed the 8.66.4.0 fix and it solved the problem partly. I can now record in stereo. Mono still exactly the same. Stereo is loud and clear on 50% mic input Export a few seconds of bad mono recording in WAV in case it gives us any ideas. See How to post an audio sample ...

Re: Unhandled Exception expanding after make stereo track

Hi Dick, We have fixes committed for this bug. There are no Mac nightly builds on homerow right now, but I've posted a build with this fix at http://gaclrecords.org.uk/test-builds/audacity-macosx-r53b8fd5-2.1.2-alpha-09-jan-16.zip . Could you give that a try with your routines in long tracks? Gale

Re: Audacity 2.1.1 won't recognize sound card

Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron laptop running Audacity 2.1.1. All of a sudden will not recognize an audio device....in or out. Any suggestions other then the obvious, uninstall and reinstall and check options/preferences, which I have done. Have you just now upgraded to Windows 10 on the same machin...

Re: Is Windows WASAPI sound card dependent?

If you are recording a stream on YouTube then download the video. If you are recording audio you may be able to download a stream that is being served from a file. Use your favourite search engine to find out how. Then you have the audio exactly as it is, without even any possible change of level th...

Re: Cannot open MP3 encoding Library

HI! Me again. So I haven't changed anything in my computer, but today when I went on Audacity to change tempo on a song it said, "Audacity needs the file libmp3lame.dylib to create MP3s. It gave me a link to down load a free version. So i did, even though I already had it. Then it said "C...

Re: Hoarse voice on recording playback

We've given you all the advice we can, assuming you are not doing something silly like recording at way above 44100 Hz project rate. Check sound effects and enhancements. If that does not help, set Windows not to update hardware drivers as I showed you then install the WHQL driver from the Lenovo si...

Re: How can I repair corrupted 3GP audio files?

So MediaInfo does not get as far as to know what codec the file is using. Actually, it does. For the corrupt files it does not, which was the MediaInfo output I quoted. I think you may probably be in the hands of the commercial repair vendors, though copying the data to a new container is bound to ...

Re: Hoarse voice on recording playback

Nothing unusual in your Audio Device Info that I can see, except that you don't apparently have an external mic device enabled. Assuming your computer has a mic port, you can enable it in Windows Sound. Just about anything will be better than the internal mic.
