Re: Analog microphone

PreSonus AudioBox USB That's a stereo device and produces a stereo show with a single microphone on Left or Right depending on where you plug it in. Some audio adapters allow you to connect as a mono device and all's well. Some don't and you forever need to convert a recorded track from stereo to m...

Re: Have 2 Audacities open at the same time?

I agree existing "Simple" and "None" settings in .cfg should be left as is. If we can force the new default just for those whose existing setting is "Standard" I think that is reasonable, on the grounds those who want the multi-track behaviour are probably more sophisti...

Re: Quality compromised when export as .wav and re-import?

Just to add also, if you do export from 32-bit float projects to 16-bit audio files, low level dither noise is added because of the downconversion of bit depth. This is generally regarded as preferable to harmonic distortion which might occur if you don't dither. Exporting 32-bit float WAV instead w...

Re: Audacity records a half pitch below

I noticed that the 'playback speed' in not dead centered. It is to the left of the center. Could this cause the problem? No. Left of centre is 1.00x (normal) speed. That slider only affects playback, and only when you click the green play button to left of the slider. It does not affect recording o...

Re: exporting 8bit audio that doesnt have "noise" added

And I wish to use 8-bit format for some audio files in a reasonable format with minimal compression but not so large file size and if possible export in a format that doesnt add too much "noise" to the sound from 8-bit format limits Maybe ADPCM ? ADPCM is common in telephone systems. Just...

Re: Cant record channels 2 and 3 in mixer only channel 1

As the instructions suggested, I was unable to locate "multi channels" in the recording drop down -only mono or stereo. I also tried all options from the audio host drop down. That is what I would expect unless the drivers/firmware Koz mentions solves the problem. If it doesn't and the mi...

Re: Reassembling a Track from _data folder?

Are you saying the AUP file also reopens silent, and there is only a flat line now instead of waveform? If there are blue waves, and you can apply an effect to the waves without them becoming a flat line, then the problem is that you have turned down gain or volume somewhere, or are using the wrong ...

Re: Having trouble with "drawing tool"

It's possible that Exact Audio Copy might be able to produce a better rip, if you are prepared to use the slowest and most accurate rip process.

Yes, I have 2.0.5. Do you have a preference whether to use 2.1.1 or 2.0.5 for the test above?
The History changes I recall testing were released in 2.1.1, so you could perhaps test 2.1.1 first.

Re: Why did Amplify improve & clean my audio?

If the file properties are anything to do with the variability of playback in Chrome and other apps you can obtain "MediaInfo" from http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows to examine the files. Get the version without installer, because the installer may have malware or adware...
