Can you post about 10 seconds of a guitar recording that sounds bad to you? Please see How to post an audio sample.
What type of connection is at the end of the pickup? TS or TRS? XLR? Can you connect the pickup to the computer mic port, if so what happens then?

Re: Loss of front end of timed recordings
The recording is 50 minutes. I have 500 GB of free memory so available capacity is not an issue. Audacity does not record to memory. It records, as I said, to the temporary directory specified in Directories Preferences. What is the exact location of that directory? Before recording, how much space...

Re: Administrator approval
I'd be happy for us to split this issue into two parts - one a bug, and the other an enhancement. OK, done. Bug 1304: (P2) Starting Save or Export directory is not set, so is unwritable or requires authentication for most users Bug 1305: (P3) Improve recall and customisation of starting Save and Ex...

Re: Very Low Volume from Microphone suddenly
Is there some way I can stop it automatically updating? Windows 10 defaults to automatically updating. You cannot prevent that if you have Windows 10 Home, short of setting the wireless or mobile internet to "metered". See http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_10_OS#Notable_feature_ch...

Re: History window slowness
Thanks, Dick. Is there a comparable problem closing a History window containing a few hundred entries in 2.1.1/2.1.2 but not 2.0.3? If so, is that problem only when closing an open History window when closing the project, or do you also see it when closing History while the project is open? Gale

Re: Plugins Show Up In Their Folder, But Can't Be Used
GSnap works in Audacity except for MIDI tuning.
For Windows 10, make sure you have the latest DLL (currently v1.2.4.4) from http://www.gvst.co.uk/dl/GSnapWin32.zip.
Make sure at Edit > Preferences..., Effects section, that VST effects are enabled.

Re: Extracting audio with labels using chains
It won't help, but Chains do support Analyze effects. It isn't useful when applying the Chain to files, because Audacity just selects all the file.

Re: Weird sounds on playback
We're still waiting for you to confirm that you are choosing the external mic as recording device in Audacity. What output of the mixer are you connecting the computer to? Are the recorded blue waves also very small? If the waves are tall then it is presumably not a recording problem but a playback ...

Re: Very Low Volume from Microphone suddenly
So being a tower, there is no internal microphone, correct? If there was an internal microphone, you are probably choosing the wrong recording device. Did this machine come with Windows 10 or did you upgrade from a previous Windows? If you upgraded, go to the Dell site and make sure you have the cor...
