Re: Administrator approval

FWIW this wxGTK3 documentation https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/3.0/GtkFileChooserDialog.html#gtkfilechooserdialog-setting-up argues against specifying the directory on Linux, instead letting GTK "choose". On Linux, the default Save, Save As and Export directory (reset preferences, nothin...

Re: Move some export preferences into export interface

Do you think Export Multiple should have a checkbox to show Metadata Editor only for the first track, then pass through the data to the other tracks, or should that be in your dropdown for Export Multiple only? I've not really considered the pros / cons of "passthrough data" as I rarely u...

Re: Administrator approval

Only if Audacity could not write to the hard drive file system? Are you thinking of a Linux live USB stick? I've not really experimented with running Audacity from a USB stick. I recall that on (some?) Windows systems one can log in with a "guest" account. Does such an account have a writ...

Re: VST Plugin Issues Win 10

in private message Well, that's just it: when I had win 7 audacity, it scanned EVERY folder that had any NYQUIST or LAPSDA plugin there was even if it wasn't in the audacity folder itself The DLL you attached by Private Message is not recognised in any version of Audacity I tried on Windows 7, even...

Re: Administrator approval

You mean, in the proposal? No, I mean now, Audacity 2.1.2 RC3. I've described that already. On Windows and Mac, first time installation, export and save use the current directory, then after reset preferences, save still uses the last used path but export reverts to current directory. I don't use L...

Re: Move some export preferences into export interface

I'm fine with this. We do want a more discoverable way to set the mix and a more convenient way to not write metadata for Export Multiple. Does the mix to mono do the same averaging as Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono? Otherwise my old bugbear http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=551 still ...

Re: Saved file completely disappeared

The AUP file and the _data folder should be living together in the same folder.

Have you searched your computer (type *.aup in the search box)?

Re: Record/save tracks alignment issue

when I highlight a single track for editing effects etc, it sometimes highlights all the tracks that I have open or the reverse when I highlight all the tracks it sometimes defaults to one track and doesn't apply the effects them all. Do these links help? How do I select audio in one track? How do ...

Re: Administrator approval

To clarify the starting point of this proposal: What are the out-of-the-box default export / save directories for correctly installed Audacity on each platform? You mean, in the proposal? It was suggested: Windows: Users\username\Documents Unix/Mac: ~/Documents . Could "Documents" be a pr...

Re: Administrator approval

Thanks, Steve. Yes, and of course the preference for "Original file" for Save/Export directory would still have the file save dialogue open at "last used" if there was no original file. Given opening a project already changes the save directory to the path the project was opened ...
