I would use the current Audacity 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows if possible.

Re: How to append multiple MP3 files

You don't have to go through quite all that fuss. Import all your tracks and Time Shift them one after the other. You don't have to do all that timeshifting either. Files import in alphanumeric order of file name. Assuming the files have thus imported in the order you want, Edit > Select > All (or ...

Re: Unanticipated shift in wave pattern

I don't know why this happens. But, it has happened several times and is quite unnerving. I will be in the middle of recording a tape cassette and all is going well. Then, suddenly, the paired wave pattern shifts to another level so that I have two aired patterns that are not connected. If I contin...

Re: Weird sounds on playback

Is this it? deviceinfo.txt Yes, thanks. If you believe that microphone is the external microphone you are using then I still suggest you turn off its enhancements ( see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements ) . Also go to the web site of your laptop ma...

Re: Can't go above -6 dB

You could try Wavosaur which is ASIO-capable. It is not a multi-track editor but it would be an easy (no learning curve) and free way to test if ASIO helped.

Let us know how you get on.

Re: Unable to use streaming recorder with Realtek [SOLVED]

I have solved the problem. Shortly after upgrading to Windows 10 I purchased a new monitor with integrated speakers that connects via a DVI/HDMI cable. I only had to switch the recording and playback devices from Realtek to MX279 (Intel Display Audio). I will mark the topic [SOLVED] then and lock i...

Re: Can't go above -6 dB

I agree drivers or hosts may make a difference to Audacity (though it seems to be rare that provides a solution in practice). The suspicion is that if you compiled Audacity with ASIO support the problem might go away, because professional DAW's don't have this problem with ASIO-enabled interfaces. T...

Re: voice recording

I would write it off. The voices are very low compared to the noise so it is hard to remove much noise without removing most of the voices. I just removed a little noise and applied a notch filter at 1000 Hz which seemed to help a little.
