Re: Old Issue Arises From The Grave To Haunt Me.

Everything is to no avail. I believe you are right that it could be the interface. Do you now have the same problem recording from Ableton? In the event I change interfaces, are you at liberty to suggest a Model(s) that I could purchase? Lots of people record successfully with 2i2 and Audacity (wit...

Re: Automatic shut-off for recording LPs?

Maybe using a timed recording period would be better so I don't get home and my hard drive is filled with sounds of shhhhhhh -- K 33 times a minute. Any thoughts on limiting the recording period to, say, 40 minutes? Timer Record is safer. If you don't get the Sound Activation Level threshold right ...

Re: Cannot save midi file

By the way, SDS probably isn't what you want when you say "convert MP3 to MIDI" (i.e. MIDI notes that a score reader application could read). When you import the SDS file into Winamp and Audacity they will convert the SDS file back to 24-bit PCM audio. See http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki...

Re: Cannot save midi file

"SDS" is not a MIDI file. It appears to be audio samples dumped as MIDI "System Exclusive" messages. I can export a mono track at 44100 Hz as SDS 24-bit PCM and play it in Winamp. I see the error that gorillamotors sees if the track is stereo. So try Tracks > Stereo Track to Mon...

Re: Please Help Error: Not Well Formed (invalid token)

Audacity 2.0.0 referred to in your AUTOSAVE file is now very old. I recommend upgrading to the current 2.1.3 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows.

Re: Mic Recording Volume jumps to zero

As a clarification, even with eternal mic (and no outside mic plugged in) ... the recording level jumps to zero in about 3 to 5 seconds. Are you talking about Audacity's recording volume slider moving itself back to zero, or the waveform fading to flat line? Waveform fading can be due to Windows en...

Re: Audacity 2.1.3 - Problem with Open/Save dialog

I just tried the suggestion of Gale and it worked. I reinstalled Audacity and said yes when asked to keep the preferences, and Yes I could open a file work in it and export it. What version of Windows 10 are you using? To check, press the Windows key, type "winver" (without quotes) then h...

Re: Old Issue Arises From The Grave To Haunt Me.

Check the USB cable is tight at both ends. Check the mic is connected properly. Try Windows DirectSound or Windows WASAPI host in Audacity's Device Toolbar . Ask Focusrite for help if necessary. Ask them what drivers you should be using on Windows 10 for a non-ASIO application (they will know what t...

Re: importing artist/LP and song title to ITunes

I suggest you have a look at http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tuto ... tunes.html which covers most of your points.

Export as AIFF (if you want a large, lossless file) or MP3 (if you want a smaller, degraded quality file) to get more complete metadata in iTunes.

Re: Audacity recording microphone and internal computer audi

No, not with one computer. Try FRAPS for recording the game and Audacity for the mic. See http://www.fraps.com/faq.php . This assumes you are on Windows 7 as you say in your profile. FRAPS could record both mic and game. You may be making it harder to sync automatically by recording them separately....
