Re: unwanted noise while trying to record
Whine when the USB cable is connected is almost always due to a loose or faulty USB cable. So change the cable and make sure it is tight both ends. If you are hearing noise in the computer speakers without the player connected presumably you have an input on the Recording tab of Windows Sound that i...

Re: Exported MP3 podcast file restarting after 3 minutes
What happens if you import the exported file back into Audacity? If the imported file looks wrong, can you CTRL + F and CTRL + SHIFT + F to fit your project horizontally and vertically to the screen, then post a screenshot of that. Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.o...

Re: Plugins testing in 2.1.2
The "closing with the red button" bug when closing effect windows was already reported here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=89864 Item 2. OK you mean effects closing - that is already at http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1318 , though real-time previ...

Re: Audacity seems to be recording too slowly
I built my own machine; the sound card is built into the motherboard. I have used Audacity before on it (I don't remember the Build number) without problem under Win7. When I changed t Win10, whilst I could hear sound with the built in sound drivers and the realtek drivers from the Asus Support sit...

Re: only records mono
A stereo track is one track with two separate channels I don't understand. Does that mean it isn't real stereo I was recording before? When it recorded 2 tracks, they were slightly different, so I assume I've lost something. In what way were they "slightly different"? Do you mean they sou...

I missed the fact that the thread went to a new page. Click the link "User Control Panel" at the top of any page on the Forum. Click "Board Preferences" at the top. Click "Edit Display Options" at the left. Change "Display post order direction" to "Desce...

Re: OS 10.11.3 auto recovery freezes
I lost my audio recording and the auto recovery hung up so I lost it. Is there any chance of finding it and recovering? Please tell us your version of Audacity (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page). What did you do after auto recovery hung? If you closed Audacity normally a...

Re: .autosave silenced recording
2.0.3 is very old now. I strongly recommend you update to the latest 2.1.2 release from http://audacityteam.org/download/mac . If you have not done so yet I also recommend you use Go > Utilities > Disk Utility and run Verify Disk. Feel free to attach the AUTOSAVE file and paste the log. Please see h...

Re: Plugins testing in 2.1.2
I assume you are testing on Mac not Windows and this is nothing to do with Sound Activated Recording so I started a new topic for you. There's the one bug with the closing button on OSX that lands you with a forced quit as only way out. Can you provide steps for that, in case we don't know about it....

Re: Workflow on mixing tracks
I am still -1 to "Mixdown" as a name that means something different to "Mixing down" in Warnings Preferences. As i have written several times. It is my opinion that "mixing", unless we provide some sort of "modifier" that the user explicitly selects, should a...
