Feedback and speed problems usually have different causes. Make sure you have all updates for El Capitan. Early El Capitan had issues with older USB 1.x and 2.0 devices. Note also that in 2.1.1 you have to click the "Options..." button to access the choice for WAV and 24-bit PCM.
