Re: creating tracks
Add labels to mark the different cassette tracks then File > Export Multiple... . See Splitting a recording for export as separate tracks - Audacity Manual.

Re: Workflow on mixing tracks
In terms of the current behaviour, I added the bug report for no warning when some tracks are muted: http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1334. Thanks Gale. I'm not so sure about the dividing line between "bug" and "enhancement" but that's neither here nor there. I a...

Re: Recent file Menu enhancement
My old proposal for reorganisation of the File Menu
into discrete sections for projects and audio files would naturally meet your request.
But otherwise, yes I think separate File > Recent Projects and File > Recent Audio items is a reasonable idea.

Re: monitoring play back through Zoom H4N with Audacity 2.0.
Was the Audacity project rate 44100 Hz? USB interfaces usually expect sample rates to match with the computer recording or playback application and with any settings that Windows has for the interface's sample rate.

Re: different time in Audacity and other player
I do it with Tine Shift Tool, import audio-tracks When you drag each track to start after the previous one, look for the yellow vertical line that shows you when the start of the dragged track aligns with the end of the previous one. Then the total length of the project won't be longer than the com...

Re: Playback problem
2.1.0 is rather old now. Here is the correct place to download Audacity from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Audacity is at version 2.1.2 now. Are you recording yourself singing or playing an instrument, or recording a song playing on the internet? If the latter, see Tutorial - Recording ...

Re: Can't open project
Hi You should just open the AUP file by double-clicking it, then it will open in Audacity. Or, start Audacity first, then do File > Open... and select the AUP file and open it. If you have got that far already, and you can see tall blue waves inside Audacity, then what you need to do is File > Expor...

Re: different time in Audacity and other player
That's not true; I have tried it on a other computer with an older version of Audacity then Audacity says it's 30 minutes and that's exactly the same as in Windows Media Player.... I have never had this trouble before.... For example, perhaps you are not reading the track length correctly in Audaci...
