Re: Error: reference to invalid character number at line 6
What exactly do you mean? The audio file I'm using is a simple instrumental from YouTube. It comes with tags so that if you want to profit or gain full rights to it you gotta buy it. It is not directly from YouTube, I believe. I think you have to go to the beats site and get the free download from ...

See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tuto ... ndows.html.
The current Audacity is 2.1.3 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows. It is a good upgrade.

Re: Audacity crashes
I ran the first aide program on the Mac Mini sierra operating system and that seemed to correct the problem. You mean, that solved the crashing problem you had at first? My other problem is with the new audio interface (Babyface Pro) I'm using on a MacBook Air laptop which I wrote you about earlier...

Re: Fading the same amount of time of multiple clips
If it isn't DC offset, there is a primitive fade in/out at http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Fade_In_and_Out that lets you specify the fade region so you could use it in a Chain applied to files. See Installing Nyquist plug-ins . Gale Okay, I managed it, and it works well. T...

Re: Installing ASIO in Audacity
Mam: I'm a male. All I know is that I received the excellent suggestion to read and follow that readme file. As a result of following those instructions in that readme file, I have now successfully compiled Audacity and am able to successfully use the playback function. My point is that there is no...

Re: DLLL HIJACKING Audacity 2.1.2
someone who's able to manipulate those DLLs to run his own code If someone has that access, then you have more to worry about than Audacity, and they would probably have found a way to put infected DLL's in Windows system folders, even if you were not running with elevated privileges. I believe the...

Re: Generaic background question: origin of ``thumbnail art'
So that it is clear, Audacity does not support images in audio files. If the file had an image on import, it would be removed on export. VLC is probably connecting to the internet to search for images that relate to the file, but for support with VLC, please contact VLC, not Audacity. Gale My questi...

Re: Noise Gate with a sidechain?
I was wondering how to setup the detector audio track to control the track to be processed, but I've started to use the Auto-Duck (for a different job) and putting the detector track UNDER the track to be processed works just fine... Funnily enough, that is one aspect of Auto Duck that I really don...

Re: Installing ASIO in Audacity
Thanks very much for directing me to read the super important "readme.txt" file in the source root !!! I don't actually understand this. The yellow box at the top of the Developing on Windows page is not out of date. README is mainly about compiling Audacity on Linux. There is nothing the...

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
I guess the issue is that Audacity does not check to see if the defaults actually changed and if so update the defaults. It doesn't, and what's worse, it retains the default setting even if the plug-in is removed (either via the Plug-in manager, or physically removed). A possible fix might be to un...
