Re: Recording help - records all noises in room
This problem is driving me to the point of smashing up my computer. I am trying to record from the Djay app on iPad to my PC via a Pioneer mixer. The problem I have is the recording picks up every noise in the room I.e. My voice / general noises. Try disabling the computer's built-in microphone. No...

Re: Cassette tape to PC
No it will not be split to a new track between pauses automatically because Audacity does not have that feature.
Although you can add labels to split up the recording for export as separate files, the recording itself remains in one track.

Re: Any advice to speed up export?
I rip the disks with MakeMKV. By far the easiest and quickest. Then use MKVCleaver to get the audio out (Audacity is too slow reading the audio in a MKV file). Process the audio, then replace the audio track with MKVMerge. I don't know if it will help, but if the Audacity project rate bottom left i...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
Having Spectral Selection Toolbar enable spectral selection is still only half of the puzzle. It is not at all obvious to look in View > Toolbars to enable spectral selection, any more than it is to look in Preferences when there are already "Spectrogram Settings" in the Audio Track Dropd...

Re: USB turntable recording with Win 10 new computer
To begin with, make sure you are selecting the USB Audio CODEC for the turntable as the Recording Device in Device Toolbar . Where are you listening to the recordings when made? Everything will sound tinny in built-in computer speakers. Don't Append Record with Transport > Overdub on because that m...

Re: How to have playback for only the visible part
You can't do that in any automatic way, if I interpret your question correctly, because the visible region will change with zoom level. You can label particular regions which fit the visible area at particular zoom levels. I assume you don't mean, play but don't scroll the screen? That is at "U...

Re: Playback is fast and skipping
You don't need to restart Audacity. You can use Transport > Rescan Audio Devices instead.Sonja Maj wrote:Thanks Gale! So the solution, in that case, is to shut down Audacity, and restart with mic already connected? That would sure be a clear and easy fix.

Re: De Essing on Audacity
So the default settings make the effect slow, from what you said about using more than 6 bands.Trebor wrote:Trebor's suggested default settings for Paul-L De-Esser.png
How much more effective is the plugin at 10 bands than 3 bands?

Re: Selections, Time Shfit Tool, and Label Tracks
Thought I'd list the custom hotkeys , it's had to remember which ones: Amplify Alt+A, Equalization Ctrl+Alt+E, Fade In Shft+F, Fade Out Ctrl+Alt+F, Silence Alt+S. Since the topic is about LABELS, the Hotkeys are: Export Labels Ctrl+Alt+L, Import Labels Ctrl+Alt+Q (that's my hint.. import quotes). I...
