Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

You (Peter) will have to decide if you are backing Steve's idea for a special tool to draw time-with-frequency selections. I'm not really the right person to ask about this as such a tool I understood that you often look at Spectrogram view to see clicks then delete the entire selected click (rathe...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

That's a good example of why this isn't very intuitive, IMO. I would have (logically) thought that the click at the selection edge would set the centre frequency That's not what happens now. [...] I know what happens now. That is with Selection Tool not with a "Spectral Selection Tool". ;...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection

Or more correctly, it will be a time selection with a spectral selection inside it Conceptually a "spectral" selection is a selection in both the time and frequency domains. in terms of our current "rectangle" implementation, a "spectral" selection is a "time"...

Re: Couple Of Questions On Recording and Editing

2.0.3 is very old now. I recommend you upgrade to the latest 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Would LAME need to be updated? No, updating LAME is not required if you upgrade from 2.0.3. If you are using FFmpeg you will have to update that. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/f...

Re: Sample rate question

Please, tell us the Audacity version you are using (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page). Unless you obtain Audacity from us at http://audacityteam.org/download/ you may not necessarily have the latest version. In short, choose "Other uncompressed files". If you ar...

Re: Couple Of Questions On Recording and Editing

There is a brief silence at each break, but it's only less than a second. If your desired web recordings have quiet audio before Sound Activated Recording stops recording, then you may still be able to use Silence Finder or Sound Finder if you increase "Treat audio below..." and reduce &q...

Re: Recordings breaking up

Playback is much less demanding than recording. Thanks Gale. Yes I understand that, but surely I would encounter problems recording at 48000 rather than 8000? It depends what the problem is. Recording at 88200 Hz then exporting at 44100 Hz is not a terrible solution. Do you have a security app that...

Re: Couple Of Questions On Recording and Editing

Audacity 2.0.3 ( .exe) Win 7 Home Premium 2.0.3 is very old now. I recommend you upgrade to the latest 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Works fine for recording web sounds using sound activated recording, with one problem. When there are pauses, the program stops recording then...
