Re: I keep having to reset toolbars on 2-1-2 :¬(
While we're on the subject , on 2-1-2 the vertical scroll-bar becomes too-big when the Audacity window is reduced in size : that restricts vertical scrolling Also I tried it on XP (I don't have Vista any longer) and there was not a problem. Can you write steps out Trebor from a fresh audacity.cfg t...

Re: Recordings breaking up
If I click volume the recording control tab appears and line in is already selected (this is the first time you tell me to click volume) Yes OK, I thought you would already have tried that. On my XP setup, the "Advanced..." button in "Sound recording" for both IDT built-in...

Re: Building Audacity 2.1.2 on Debian unstable
The /lib-src/portmixer/src/.libs/ folder should be there when building.
Have you tried the recommended
so you don't contaminate the source tree with the build files and folders, and so it is easier to build with ffmpeg?

Re: Help with removing music from a video
I'm wondering if there is a way for me to remove a song that includes vocals from a video? The video gets a copyright strike on youtube You could then presumably try YouTube's own system https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2902117?hl=en but I don't know what methods they use, if not inversion...

Re: LIve Equalizer?
What effect exactly does not work? Please give the name of the effect, and the type of effect it is (click the "Manage" button in the effect, then "About").Beatnik wrote:Now it doesn't work. Opens, you can adjust but hear no change.

Re: Youtube's algorithm for content ID music removal?
This is *not* an Audacity problem.
Moved to Audio Processing.
If you invert a copy of audio against the original, the original can cancel out, if identical and identically aligned.

Re: message- two programmes of audacity are open
thank you for your reply. I just tried your suggestion and after pasting var/folders/56/p9gwbplx6j75rbmyrgy9gvc00000gn/T/audacity-charlotteparallel, it said cannot find folder.... That folder exists, unless you rebooted, which might be another solution. Only one character short or wrong and it will...

Re: 2.1.2 weirdness with spectral selection
That would be confusing when going into Keyboard Preferences to change shortcuts. Three shortcuts for what appear to be two commands is somewhat confusing. Wouldn't it be better for users if the "play/stop" command was hidden from the UI such that the user is presented with two commands, ...

Ensure Transport > Sound Activated Recording is turned off. Play the stream before pressing Record in Audacity. Ensure Edit > Preferences..., Recording pane, "Audio to buffer" is not set to a low value like 10 or 20 milliseconds. The default is 100 milliseconds. Ensure you have Windows 8.1...
