Re: Windows 7 Audacity Internal PortAudio error / no devices
The only thing I did see change was that Audacity now had a startup guide window, and was not fullscreen but was windowed, which I've never had before. Perhaps that is because you reset the Audacity preferences? If a residual part of Stereo Mix Plus is causing the problem then I would assume Audaci...

Re: Lame settings [SOLVED]
We're just going round in circles, really. Users who don't know why they can't play or stream the file and don't get a straightforward error message in their app are just going to blame Audacity. Re: project data files not found
If you still need help, restart Audacity, attach the AUP file for the first project file that won't open, then also attach the log from Help > Show Log... so we can see what the errors are.
Repeat the restart of Audacity and as above for the other projects that won't open.

Re: I dont want to record audio playback
As Koz suggested in his last post, you are likely sending what you are hearing back to Audacity for recording. There may be a "Mix" button or similar that needs releasing on the mixer.

Re: new computer: Audacity adds a high-pitch noise to playb
I just got home and saw your message about right-clicking in the Windows Sound dialog box, to see if there are any invisible disabled recording devices. Yes, that caused "STEREO MIX Reaktek High definition Audio" to appear. So I enabled it. I opened Audacity; and now that is displayed as ...
