Re: mp3 exports way too long
Please don't forget to tell us what version of Audacity you are using (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page). I think you are describing a bug that is in recent Audacity versions including the current 2.1.2. It usually happens if you export multiple with multiple Audacity tra...

Re: Protecting a Track
I could also see where protecting a track might be handy when editing multiple tracks at once. By protecting a track that I did not want to edit, I could select all others above and below it by still clicking and dragging across the multiple tracks I want to edit. You could use the Audio Track Drop...

Re: 24-Bit Recording Status
As far as I'm aware, there is still a 16-bit capture limit when using MME or DirectSound as "host" (in the device toolbar ) though I don't have Windows to be able to test that. As I understand it, 24-bit recording should be available using WASAPI host (provided that your hardware and driv...

Re: Audacity playback at 5x speed
the cheap USB audio card I'm using is going to be lower quality than the mobo audio. You know how the computer was built, but older motherboard audio was often inferior even to cheapest possible USB audio. I am waiting on a sound card to be delivered, but there's no guarantee that it will be compat...

Re: Audacity seems to not play the last 0.2 seconds
Setting the audio buffer to 0 doesn't solve the problem either. I was on Windows 10 when I tested and found lower Audio to buffer let WASAPI play the entire file. On Windows 7 where I am now, the buffer setting makes no difference. If that difference is repeatable it could perhaps be due to Windows...

Please don't forget to tell us what version of Audacity you are using, even though in this case we can guess you are using 2.1.1. See the pink panel at the top of the page. Re: bad quality recording!
My problem is the following: I recorded a guitar line, which used the output of my amp and turned the audio input on your computer, but the recorded audio is horrible, like I'm playing in a tube. and recordings with microphone also have the same problem. the that can be the probel? I use the versio...

Re: Connecting a tape deck
I had recently downloaded the latest verison 2.x. If Help > About Audacity... says "2.x" then your version is bogus. Please check. If necessary please download Audacity 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/ . last time when I converted some tapes through my desktop, on the toolbar ...

Re: The Window menu is gone, and windows are strange.
The Window menu is gone. It looks like Audacity is finally getting the new style of windows that OSX has had for several releases, but without a Window menu, it's very difficult to switch between projects, which is essential for what I'm doing. As Koz said, delete the audacity folder in your applic...

Re: stuck getting cassette tape sound into Audacity
I am running Audacity 2.0.6 (installed from the .dmg installer) on a mac mini (late 2012) running OS 10.11.3. 2.0.6 is old now. You can get the current 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/mac . "Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Mac"[3] I am working with Soundflower 2.0b2 ...
