Re: Boomy sound in recording

Even if I take the file and put it in my mp3 player, I get the same sound. It's not caused by Windows Media player. What recording device are you choosing in Audacity's Device Toolbar ? Assuming you are using Stereo Mix, try Windows WASAPI loopback recording instead. That will also help keep the re...

Re: Protecting a Track

I envisaged in that scenario that all the "Move Track" items in the second track's dropdown menu would be greyed out. So if there are three tracks and the top track is protected, then moving the third track to "top" will move it up one place so that it is below the protected tra...

Re: Audacity seems to not play the last 0.2 seconds

Setting the audio buffer to 0 doesn't solve the problem either. I was on Windows 10 when I tested and found lower Audio to buffer let WASAPI play the entire file. On Windows 7 where I am now, the buffer setting makes no difference. If that difference is repeatable it could perhaps be due to Windows...

Re: Audacity unable to locate specified Lame library file

Hi Ian, Mac can lock out access to usr/local/lib, as you saw from the red "No entry" sign. The easy solution is to follow the Alternative zip download instructions. Using those you can place the required "libmp3lame.dylib" file anywhere you like in your own user space (such as on...

Re: Strange Popping and Clicking Noise in audio

I am using Mac Yosemite (version 10.10.5) on a Macbook Pro with 2.5 GHz Intel core i5. Am using Audacity 2.1.2. What's happening is when I use Audacity now, recording or importing audio, there's quite a bit of unwanted pops and clicks that shouldn't exist. So it's a playback problem and never a rec...

Re: Protecting a Track

You could argue that you should not even be able to change the track order. I don't think that works... The track can be seen and heard but does not exist for purposes of any manipulation. Say you lock the first track, then you use the track drop-down menu to move a track to the top - either this m...

Re: Protecting a Track

I think the Track Lock takes precedence over Sync-Lock. You could argue that you should not even be able to change the track order. If you had tracks 1 to 3 and 2 was track-locked, dragging track 1 downwards did nothing until you reached track 3. The track can be seen and heard but does not exist fo...

Re: Can't record and playback voice audio while in Windows V

I'm running Windows 7 in a VM, hosted on a laptop running CentOS7.2. I have a USB headset connected, and I've configured both input and output on the host to be the USB headset. I've used this setup before for some meetings, and people could hear me, and I could hear them. What about the guest - ca...

Re: Protecting a Track

I think that this topic is a feature request for freezing tracks. I agree, I've moved the topic to adding features. do we have already something along this lines where votes could be added? I don't think so. There are a couple of votes to prevent a track from moving horizontally. Do you want to vot...
